Assessment testing is done to disclose strengths and weaknesses about our personality. Below I have addressed several sections regarding my personal self, how I work with others, and finally, life in organizations. Understanding how to control strengths, and realizing our weaknesses are not a negative, but an opportunity to grow in God 's love to glorify His kingdom. What about Me? Personality Insight The Myers-Brigg Type Indicator revealed I was an extreme extrovert. Receiving the same four letters (ESTJ) in the Jungian personality test, I am reminded of the great attributes such as being assertive, dependable, persistent and responsible. Terminal values are "desirable end-states of existence; the goals a person would like to achieve during his or her lifetime." (Robbins & Judge, 2009, p.117) Although there is no right or wrong answer, I felt somewhat shallow after making my decision, and therefore, will be praying for guidance in the matter. Motivation Insights An analysis of personal growth and development revealed that my growth needs are substantially unsatisfied." (Prentice Hall, 2008) According to Maslow 's needs theory, my higher-order needs (esteem and self-actualization) are unfulfilled, which are predominantly satisfied within a person. (Robbins et al, 2009, p.176) This also reflects my dominate need of achievement, and my desire to excel and improve. Decision Making Insight The assessment in decision making was determined by procrastination level and ethical rate. There was no surprise that my procrastination level was exceedingly low. I am the quintessential opposite for procrastination. The ethical rate assessment revealed I was outside the mean from other management students who took the assessment. This was alarming to find out that my future is with individuals who do not believe morality has a role in today 's business
It is the need for self-esteem, achievement, competence, and independence. It is also a need for recognition and respect from others. This is a need that many people will often struggle with because feeling confident is one of those situations where is it much more easily said than done. The fifth level of needs is self-actualization, which is the need to live up to our fullest and unique potential. These are the moments when the famous quote “live life to the fullest” really is necessary. It may seem like an unoriginal and cheesy quote, but it really does matter. It is important to have a goal set for yourself and to strive for success in every moment of each and every day. The final need is at the top of the pyramid, and is the self-transcendence need. This is the need to find meaning and identity that is beyond yourself. This is the top need because to most it would seem to have the highest level of difficulty when it comes to achieving this particular need. Having a personal goal is important, but there is no point to a goal if you do not have an understanding of your own self. While the six different levels on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs are on a pyramid that ranks them, that does not mean that they are not all important. As we live our lives each day we probably do not contemplate our personality types or how our types intertwine themselves in our mannerisms and actions. I recently took a personality test from the “Jung Typology Test”. The test revealed that I am an extravert, sensing, thinking, and judging which we will refer to as an ESTJ throughout this discussion. The personality test reveals your four types of personality along with your two temperaments associated with your type. As an ESTJ, I fall into the SJ (sensing, judging) temperament. Within the Jung Typology Test (JTT) it states that my type of personality is introverted, sensing, feeling and judging. The results indicated I am an introvert over extrovert, the score showed 56%. There was a marginal or no preference to sensing over intuition at 1% for this result. Moderate preference to feeling over thinking at 25%, and a strong preference to judging over perceiving at 78%. So this is saying that I am an introverted sensing with extroverted feeling.
I have realized that to be an effective contributor to an organization, there are a numerous breadth of qualities to be desired. In obtaining the results from the personality tests, I have a better perception of my strengths and weaknesses within my personality. This will allow me to have a new perspective on how and why I behave in particular situations. Therefore, I know what my weaknesses are and work to be stronger in those particular areas.
According with Maslow, all human being do have the same innate needs that active and drive their behaviors. These needs were organized from stronger to weaker in a pyramid known as hierarchy of needs, where the stronger need should be meet before people can have the need to accomplish the weaker one. Moreover, people can go back to the first need at any point of their life. The first two need are known as deficit needs or biological needs because without them people create a deficit in their body. The last three one are known as growth or psychological needs and are not essential for human survival.
The first personality test was the basic personality test. The assessment from the basic personality type indicated that my personality classification is an ESTJ (Llorens, 2010). The results found that I am more extroverted than introverted; I tend to be more sensing than intuitive, more of a thinker versus a feeling individual, and I am judging versus perceiving. The interpretation indicated that I am realistic, logical, analytical, decisive, organized, and I like to run things. The results were interesting, the analysis and interpretation was extremely accurate to my tendencies and my current role in my organization. The result provided me with insight to my tendencies and approaches to situations that I face each day as a leader in a multi-faceted organization (Llorens, 2010). Additionally the results indicated that my personality type matches my career aspirations as an Executive Program Manager in a corporate setting. Understanding and accepting my tendencies as an ESTJ personality type helps me be more introspective and insightful of my approaches and how I treat people and convey expectations will make me a more aware of weaknesses and strengths and use the knowledge to improve how I engage with others.
Every individual has certain values and ethics that he/she stands by. Values give us a sense of what is important while ethics gives us a sense of what is right and wrong. Together, these qualities help guide us through our everyday life: what actions to take and what decision to make.
