Asperger’s Syndrome
Today there are many different types of disabilities and syndromes. When you have a child to be diagnosed with a disability or a syndrome life can suddenly become overwhelming. This is especially true if they have been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. Parents sometimes feel guilty because their child has a disability or syndrome. Parents may feel that they are responsible for their child’s disability or syndrome. Parents may feel guilty about their child being diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome since it is a neurological disorder. This particular syndrome is not widely recognized by the general public. Since Asperger’s Syndrome is not widely recognized by the general public, the public sometimes may not understand the behavior of someone who has Asperger’s Syndrome. This can be a challenge for a parent who tries to explain their child’s behavior to someone who has never heard of Asperger’s. Parents until recently may have known their child was behaving in an unusual manner but did not where to go for help. These are just some of the challenges that parents’ face when their child has Asperger’s because it has some of the same characteristics as Autism. This paper will review the definition and characteristics of Asperger’s Syndrome, what assessments are available to diagnose Asperger’s Syndrome, and what particular children are most often diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome.
Asperger’s Syndrome was not made an official disorder until 1994. Asperger’s was discovered by Hans Asperger in the 1940's. Asperger’s Syndrome is different from autism and is under the category of Pervasive Developmental Disorders. Asperger has a long definition. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual-IV of the American Psychiatric Association (cited in Klin & Volkmar, 1995) Asperger’s syndrome follows the same format as autism. The definition of Asperger’s syndrome actually uses autism as a reference point. Asperger’s syndrome involves the absences of some abnormalities in certain areas of functioning that are affected in autism. People with Asperger’s can be highly intelligent. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual-IV of the American Psychiatric Association (citied in Klin & Volkmar, 1995) the definition of Asperger Syndrome there is a qualitative impairment in social interaction. There should be at least two of the following imp...

With on going research maybe in the future there will be one diagnostic test that all clinicians can use to properly identify someone with Asperger’s Syndrome. When a child is labeled with Asperger’s Syndrome remember this child can be highly intelligent but with some odd social behaviors.

First, those who suffer from Asperger’s tend to lack the basic social skills required in everyday life, such as hugging, communicating, or expressing their feelings. For example, in “The Curious Incident” Christopher hits people who touch him in an unwelcome manner. So when his father became angry with him, and he latched onto Christopher’s arm: “I don’t like when people grab me. And I don’t like being surprised either. So I hit
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can be detected early in a child’s life. ASD is a developmental disorder classified by problems with social interaction,
Secondly, throughout Much Ado About Nothing Don John the bastard is considered an outsider. In Act 1, scene 3 Don John and his companion Conrade are having a discussion about Don John’s sadness. During this conversation Don John says:
A Comparison between Christopher Boone and Raymond Babbitt Asperger s disorder is not a disease, but a developmental brain disorder. It is four times more prevalent in boys than in girls and it shows no racial, ethnic or social boundaries. Family income, lifestyle and educational levels do not affect the chance of Asperger s disorder occurrence. According to Hans Asperger: It is important to know that the person with AS perceives the world differently. Therefore, many behaviours that seem odd are due to neurological differences and not the result of intentional rudeness or bad behaviour.
In the 1940’s two doctors in different countries observed children displaying similar behaviors and deficits. One of the doctors was Viennese pediatrician Dr. Hans Asperger and the other was a child psychiatrist named Leo Kanner. Dr. Kanner was the first of the two doctors to report his observations. What he described were behaviors similar to those seen in children with what we call Autistic disorder. The behaviors affected the children’s communication, social interaction and interests. Dr. Asperger later published an article discussing what he dubbed “Autistische Psychpathen im Kindesalter” which translates to “Autistic Psychopathy”. Although some behaviors overlapped, there were differences leading to the belief that these doctors were documenting two different disorders. The two most prevalent were the differences in motor and language abilities (Miller, Ozonoff). Another was Asperger’s belief that his patients were of normal or above average intelligence. It was not until 1994 that Asperger Syndrome was entered into the Diagnostics and Statistics Manual of Mental Disorders Fourth Edition (DSM IV), finally becoming an official diagnosis. At the time, Asperger Syndrome (AS) was labeled as a subcategory of autism along with autistic disorder, childhood disintegrative disorder and pervasive development disorder. Since then, the community of people with Asperger Syndrome has grown to love and better understand the disorder that they live with every day. Some of them have even affectionately named themselves “Aspies”.
There is a very brief window until the games begin in Rio, but they still have lots to accomplish before the opening ceremony. The Guanabara Bay, the host site for Olympic sailing and windsurfing events made international headlines because of its polluted waters. Kaiser says that “as part of Rio’s Olympic bid there was a promise that has yet to be fulfilled to clean up the bay by 80 percent”(Kaiser). By January Andrea Correa, the state environment secretary confessed that this would not be possible(qtd. in Kaiser). They are only at 49% of their clean up goal currently. While Mayor Eduardo Paes told CNN last June that “pollution does not pose any health risks for the athletes ”(qtd. Kaiser). On the other hand Moscatelli disagrees, he claims, “that sailing in the bay is like playing Russian roulette “(qtd. in Kaiser). He warns “that sailors run the risk of hitting anything from plastic bags to car bumpers, pieces of wood, tires and even furniture,”(qtd. Kaiser). He discusses how if the sailors fall into the water they may possibly be victims of gastrointestinal infections, mycoses, otitis or hepatitis. The fact that the pollution of the water could potentially affect those who get in the waters health is not a good sign for Rio. This shows that they may be unfit to handle the Olympics and the the preparation is ruining their city even

Asperger’s is one disorder of many in the Autism Spectrum. The Autism Spectrum includes early infantile autism, childhood autism, Kanner’s autism, high-functioning autism, atypical autism, pervasive developmental disorder, childhood disintegrative disorder, and Asperger’s (“American Psychiatric Association,” 2013). All disorders found in the spectrum are neurodevelopmental disorders. These types of disorders deal with impairments of development and growth of the brain and nervous system (Lord & Bishop, 2010). Each disorder found in the spectrum may have similarities, but are different from one another too. Asperger’s was not a part of the Autism Spectrum until the latest update of DSM-5 in 2013. It was classified as its own category, but now is an Autism Spectrum Disorder, or ASD (Macintosh & Dissanayake, 2004). The moving of Asperger’s Syndrome into the Autism Spectrum took place because of the various similarities to ASDs.

Asperger’s Syndrome which is part of the Autism Spectrum was identified by Hans Asperger and hence it is named after him. People who are diagnosed with Asperger are usually very intelligent. They don’t necessarily have language problems. However, they do have trouble with social interaction.
Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that effects the brains development. It is characterized by affecting communication, cognition and social interaction. The spectrum of the disorders ranges from a mild condition called Asperger’s syndrome to a more severe form, which severely impairer’s development. The Office of Communications and Public Liaison states that the disorder affects one and eighty-eight children, however ASD effects boys more frequently than girls (Office of Communications and Public Liaison, 2013). ASD emerges in all age, ethnic and socioeconomic groups. The significant varied character and severity of the disorder is why ASD is considered a spectrum that poses a broad range of symptoms.

The early church fathers regarded Jesus as fully divine first, and then worked their way ‘down’ to his humanity. Their approach is considered to be Christology ‘from above’; wherein they presuppose the divinity of Jesus, seemingly disregarding the historical life and context of Jesus of Nazareth. Wolfhart Pannenberg was not comfortable with this interpretation of Jesus, thus he created his own theology, holding to the ‘from below’ approach. He argues that Christology must begin with the historical Jesus and center upon his resurrection, not his incarnation, as proof of his deity. It is through his resurrection that he is the Second Adam and is able to bring salvation to the world. Yet his argument is incorrect as he inadvertently leaves room for the possibility of Jesus failing and for someone else whom God elected to have been the Messiah.
Capital Community College Foundation state that,"Redundant phrases are bad habits just waiting to take control of your writing."("Writing Concise Sentences" n.d.). Saying that redundant words can appear at any given moment when writing and changing it. For example, saying "exactly the same" exchange to "the same" this helps reduce words and specify your words clearly. Another form to use exact words is when using specified concrete nouns to show mental images in the writers work. Grammarly handbook writes that concrete nouns are, "noun which can be identified through one of the five senses."(Grammarly 2003). This represents how concrete nouns are used, but in this case we have narrow down what word to use. For example, writing " Tori Morrison 's Beloved is about slavery, among other things" we remove "among other things" with motherhood and memory to specify the meaning. Last use of exact words is in standard idioms to change some word into a more lively. Literary Devices define is as, "The term refers to a set expression or a phrase comprising two or more words."(Idioms n.d.). Meaning that it 's use to compare two or more things. An example of this is writing "comply to" into "comply with" to make it less
