When most fitness people think of nutrition, they first think macronutrients: The proteins, carbs, and fats that, in part, make up our food. The macronutrients are a good place to start because they influence things like:
• The ability to do work
• Perceived energy levels
• Recovery from exercise
• Chronic disease progression
• Body composition
• Appetite and satiety
• And much more
Carbohydrates- Chemical compound of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen, usually with the hydrogen and oxygen in the right proportions to form water. Common forms are starches, sugars, cellulose, and gums. Carbohydrates are more readily used for energy production than are fats and protein. Carbohydrates are one of the main types of nutrients and the one needed in the largest amounts by the body. Between 45 and 65 percent of calories should come from carbs, according to the Dietary Reference Intakes set by the Institute of Medicine. Carbohydrates are often maligned for contributing to weight gain, but they are needed for your body to function well and should be part of every person’s diet. The role of carbohydrates is to provide energy, as they are the body’s main source of fuel, needed for physical activity, brain function and operation of the organs. All the cells and tissues in your body need carbs, and they are also important for intestinal health and waste elimination. Once in the body, carbohydrates are easily converted to fuel.

Role in energy production- The digestive system changes carbohydrates into glucose, also known as blood sugar. Some glucose is used for energy and the rest is stored in the liver and muscles for later use. As your blood sugar rises, your pancreas pumps out more and more insulin, a hormone that tells cells to absorb glucose for...

...commended types (for the generally healthy public) our body requires two classes of fatty acids to function properly: omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
types that are not recommended Trans-fat: an unsaturated fatty acid of a type occurring in margarines and manufactured cooking oils because of the hydrogenation process, having a trans arrangement of the carbon atoms adjacent to its double bonds. Consumption of such acids is thought to increase the risk of atherosclerosis. Too much saturated fat is not recommended.
Foods that I would recommend within the macronutrient category
• Fish
• Avocado
• Seeds
• Nuts
• Olive oil
• Vegetables
• Eggs (not too much)
• Flaxseed
• Beans
The reason I have chosen the foods above is because supplies essential fatty acids that the body cannot produce on its own. It also promotes healthier skin, promotes eyesight, and brain development.

Sunshine Tidings Is A Good Place Essay

- Maccready looked around the room before he sat back in the chair with a loud sigh. Another settlement done, another job finished for settlers in the Commonwealth, they didn’t know how good they had it with Molly Gould in charge. This room in particular looked nice, real nice. Molly had set it up just so. A comfortable bed, a set of drawers, even a painting on the wall and a rug on the floor, a small decorative table sat to one side, recovered from another one of the derelict houses. Sunshine Tidings was a good place, too good for him, too pleasant and neat and now, so goddamn clean....   [tags: Boiling, Water, Cooking, Water purification]

America Is A Place That Contains The Good And Bad Essay example

- America is a place that contains the good and bad. The great and the ugly. At times, America can be either your best friend or your worst enemy. Not to sound like a racist, but in America the former usually applies to white people and the latter applies to our black folk. Yes if you look at the history of America, the place hasn 't exactly been "heaven" to many African Americans across its landscape. Over time many of our ancestors have been enslaved by privileged white folk along with thousands of black folk ending up in confrontations with the police for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, African Americans weren 't exactly treated with "Southern hospitality"....   [tags: African American, Black people, Race]

- “A Good Café on the Place St.-Michel” When winter came to Paris, the weather was so bad that to warm up the room where the narrator worked was considerably expensive. The World Is A Pure And Righteous Place Essay

- According to Socrates, Guardians are to be the leaders, lawmakers and the rulers. They are to be the courageous, temperate, holy and free individuals who rule over the producers and auxiliaries. However, Socrates’ proposes that they are sheltered from the injustice, unpleasant or just deemed “bad” actions of the world. A Clean Well-Lighted Place Essay

- A Clean Well-Lighted Place Today in class we talked about plot in relation to "A & P" by John Updike. I had always thought of plot as just being the sequence of events, but after our reading assignment I realize that there is much more to it. I’d never thought of looking for plot in things like patterns. My reaction to "A & P" is mixed because I disagree with the main character being a hero (as Updike intended). While reading the story I thought that the girls who came into the store were merely looking for attention....   [tags: A Clean Well-Lighted Place Essays]
