While reading the article “Manhood vs. Safety” I had many different thoughts about this specific subject. I have never thought about how a humans are given a set of genes that show whether we will be either male or female, however those genes do not teach us how to be either feminine or masculine. (Mason 282). In one split second a human could make a small mistake that could possibly have a huge life changing event occur, for themselves or even possibly others. A different article written by Graham who works in the field of risk management, focuses on trying to get those who don’t use personal protective equipment to do so. In some ways employees, specifically men fight for a promotion to show in the end that they won and are more of a man. He uses the example of men joining the military. The military creates commercials that show tough men fighting for our country. When one turns of the age eighteen you can join the military, perhaps the reason some do is to prove you are tough, and have enough endurance serve our country. Other may have seen their fathers, or grandfathers who were in the military as masculine figures in their life and strive to show they themselves are just as tough, and competitive as they …show more content…

It also mentions the risk of different types of human behavior. For example, if you’re having a bad day you are more of a risk to causing something to happen because you’re not thinking about the job at hand but rather something else that has occurred during your day. Another concept for safety professionals to consider would be internal behavior, not just the external behavior of employees at the work place (People-Based Safety Vs Behavior-Based Safety).
