What is breakfast? Merriam Webster defines breakfast as the first meal of the day especially when taken in the morning. Breakfast is known as the first meal of the day and the jump start to our days. Some may even say “the most important meal of the day”. The average person eats breakfast at 7:30 in the morning weekdays and 8:30 in the morning weekends. But the majority of us do not have the time to eat a proper breakfast and it has become a time-saving element that has resulted in little nutrient benefits to our daily lives.
Adam Bornstein author of “Breakfast is not the most important meal” Has written an article with his beliefs as to why breakfast isn't as important as we know it to be. As an award-winning fitness and nutrition writer and editor “for years, I told people that breakfast was the most important meal of the day… I published the advice in three books, referenced the smartest minds in nutrition, and the tip was generally accepted as “the right thing” to do for your health.” But turns out it's not (Bornstein). Having irregular meal consumption can put individuals at risk for obesity and metabolic diseases. Affecting them negatively and putting their health at risk. Our body runs on a clock and when that clock is disrupted it can throw it into a loop. Maria Master states, “that people who consistently ate six meals a day had better cholesterol and insulin levels than those who ate meals with variable frequency—in this case, anywhere from three to nine meals a day.” This does not mean to make every meal a sizable portion but to makes them smaller.
