This is in stark contrast to the reception of Syrian refugees in the Muslim world today. The overall lack of acceptance of Syrian refugees in several Islamic Gulf states causes much confusion as millions of refugees suffer across international borders. Very wealthy Gulf countries refuse the acceptance of refugees. For the refugees, the obvious disregard of these asylum guides by Gulf countries, upon which the refugees rely, can be additionally traumatizing causing feelings of abandonment by the greater Muslim community. Three poorer states have accepted the millions of Syrian refugees while wealthier countries have a no-refugee stance in contradiction to their Islamic declaration, leaving many Syrian refugees feeling abandoned and unwanted in certain Gulf nations in the Arab world.
