Application of Energy Storage Battery Energy storage battery is one of the mostly used electrical energy storage technology. Recent technology advances coupled with the flexibility, portability and scalability of energy storage battery, in addition to the declining costs and improved performance, have favored its usage for a variety of applications. Energy storage battery capacity varies from a single unit of a few watts to modular configurations of up to several megawatts. Advantages of using energy storage batteries to store electricity Of all the storage technologies, the energy storage battery is the one with the widest range of applications. Batteries are used for electric vehicles, portable electronics, electric utility energy storage, …show more content…

Energy storage battery compensates for power mismatches between the solar and wind output power, and the desired power. The energy is stored during the peak-production and low-usage hours such as during the day for solar. The extra energy is stored for use later when the renewable sources are low or not available at all. The energy storage battery therefore allows for the efficient production and consumption of the renewable power, and covers up for deficiencies while the extra energy can be fed into the grid for more income. With proper control circuitry such as hybrid-ready inverters and chargers, the electricity from the renewable source is first used to power the appliances that are on, and the excess is used to charge the energy storage battery. Once the battery is fully charged, the excess energy is fed to the grid and the owner paid by the utility company in form of energy …show more content…

This ensures a stable power output regardless of the state of the sunshine or wind levels. Energy storage battery for residential and commercial UPS and power inverter systems Besides using energy storage batteries for the renewable energy sources, they are also used in other commercial and residential installations to provide power backup solutions and protect critical operations. In particular, they are used in Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) for office use, home, and emergency services such as data centers, control rooms, medical equipment, and bank networks. Even in places where generators are used to provide backup power, the UPS ensures that the loads are maintained during the short interval between the power failure and the time the generator comes up to power the load; - usually from several seconds to a few minutes. The inverter works more or less like a UPS, the inverters are usually bigger and capable of providing greater outputs; they often use a bigger energy storage battery compared to the UPSs. The inverter is suitable both as a backup and for renewable energy
