I have been constantly working with Microsoft Word to complete tasks for my financial modules, where I was able to create and enhance documents. After researching data, I created tables to illustrate my findings. Also, I have developed skills in Excel throughout my Financial Securities Valuation assignment by applying Excel’s formulas to construct a capitalisation-weighted index and an efficient portfolio. I worked with financial formulas for this assignment, in order to make portfolio calculations. In addition, my internship as a financial analyst improved further these skills. I organised data on spreadsheets to conduct financial reports, which allowed me to give investment recommendations. I constructed graphs on Excel from the data collected, as I needed to see past trends. Furthermore, last year’s Fundamentals of Finance assignment required a presentation analysing the financial performance of Rolls-Royce. Working with graphics on PowerPoint allowed me to illustrate graphs and charts to highlight the company’s financial strengths and weaknesses. Computer skills are essential in the financial sector and I have been working hard to develop them. I have been focusing mostly on Excel to improve my financial analytical skills.

...he financial world. Finance is a sector in which I know I can be useful and make a difference because of my mathematical and statistical skills. These abilities make me enjoy working with financial documents such as cash flow and income statements. Getting this placement would extend bounds of my knowledge even further in finance, a field that I am passionate about. A role in the financial department would give me transferable skills such as teamwork and problem solving, making me a valuable worker. Furthermore, I would have the opportunity develop abilities in management of taxes, financial risks and investments, which are always present in finance. Another reason is that I enjoy dealing with complex situations in order to come up with the best solution. For example, it is interesting how the combination of debt and investment decisions can affect profitability.

I am hoping that the career as a financial advisor is right for me from what I hear from everyone, it seems like a pretty good field to get into. During this paper I plan to find whether this career is actually for me or if it’s time that I change my major yet again. Since I really don’t know what I want to do with the rest of my life, and the career as a financial advisor is just something that came to me in my thoughts I really hope I can find what I need to know to make a decision if this is what I want my life to be.
Firstly, my academic career is very important to me. I try my best to go the extra mile in everything I pursue. My preferred subjects include marketing and math. I enjoy learning about these because I feel that math
I became an enthusiast of finance ever since I was at high school. At the political economy class, my teacher asked us: if you have a million RMB, how would you use it? She then introduced us the concept of investment, and I was intrigued specifically by the stock. For the latter two years of my high school, I have been reading books and articles regarding the stock market in the U.S. and in China. As one of the outstanding students ranked top 1% in College Entrance Exam in Hainan Province, China, I was accepted by the City University of Hong Kong with a full scholarship. With the strong interest in finance, I chose quantitative finance and risk management as my major.
Becoming a financial analyst will allow me to enjoy a career in the finance field that pays well and also offers ample opportunities. The position of a financial analyst is growing very fast and so there are more opportunities for me to become a financial analyst. Being a financial analyst will not only put me in a powerful position within the organization but it will also teach me skills that I need about investing for my own financial life. Some of the qualifications for the career that I already have include a bachelor’s degree in finance, technology experience (Microsoft word, Microsoft outlook), skills such as maximization of work practices, and quality vigilance. One qualification that I need for this position is the ability to turn data into information. Since this position requires past experience and I have none, I can undergo training so that I can be at par with the job functions and requirements. Despite the fast growth of the job, though, there is stiff competition and even though I will most likely get this job with my bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree will help me stand out among my competitors and it will also be a wise investment for me since I have my eyes on a financial management position at one point in
The reason I decided to pursue a career in accounting is because I have always been interested in the business world and accounting is considered a basic tool of business. I have worked for small and large business firms; also in private and public sectors which helped me develop a strong linking with the industry as a whole and solidified my interest in accounting.

In addition, there are many different positions and roles that an accountant can fill. Besides the financial rewards, accounting
Success is something individuals aim for through all stages of life. Succeeding at university may entail passing courses, achieving learning goals and consequently graduating, while gaining some experience and exposure. At work, success could take a different form of gaining a job, accomplishing goals, and seeking promotions. While the definition of success may differ for university students and employees at an organisation, the basic principles and skills required are very similar. Individuals require both intrapersonal and interpersonal perception in order to achieve success, whether at university or work. Skills such as self-regulation, self-monitoring, implementing goals and strategies to achieve those goals, as well as harnessing good communication skills and formal relationships are key factors to success. It is with these perceptions that individuals can gain skills that can help overcome barriers to succeed.
Through out my life, nothing has ever fascinated me like the application of mathematics in real life situations. In real life, the application of mathematics acts as a foundation from which economics progresses as it offers a person with different knowledge on how they are supposed to carry out different life applications. Mathematics offers an individual with the right differentiation skills that are highly required in making different calculations of elasticity coefficients that are applied in different sectors of the world. My greatest inspiration in the application of mathematics in real life experience has been “ The Pleasure of Counting”. By T. W. Korner’s. Through the work of Korner, I have been enabled to increase the rate to which I apply the mathematical knowledge that I have acquired over the years to real world situations. Some of the areas that I have increasingly applied my mathematical knowledge includes in the economics as well as in the field of finance. The application of mathematics in this filed has contributed towards my critical thinking and analytical skills progress.
My career that I have chosen is a bank manager at a First National Bank branch in Durban North. A bank manager is involved in the daily running’s of the bank. They are in charge of all operations inside the bank. They ensure that the branch that they are running is up to standard. The work I will be doing is, I will be involved in corporate meetings with the board, to help make financial solutions. I will be interacting with clients throughout the day who have problems with their accounts. I think this outfit would be perfect for being a bank manager because it is professional and neat. The heels used are closed which shows elegance and are formal, this will be easy to walk in and are block heels which will give support and will be comfortable to wear for the whole day. The skirt is a pencil
Financial theories are the building blocks of today's corporate world. "The basic building blocks of finance theory lay the foundation for many modern tools used in areas such asset pricing and investment. Many of these theoretical concepts such as general equilibrium analysis, information economics and theory of contracts are firmly rooted in classical Microeconomics" (Oaktree, 2005)
Business finance has taught me how to manage risk and return as well as making capital investment decisions throughout the semester. Professor Schott has gone through each chapter carefully well making sure that each student grasps each concept before moving on. He has used many tools such as LearnSmart, lectures and homework assignments to make sure that us students have a good idea of the concept before giving us exams.
The normal title for the job that I chose is a “Chartered Accountant”. The job of a chartered accountant is to provide accounting and business advice to companies and individuals. Chartered accountant may also provide information to clients on tax planning, personal financial planning, corporate finance, and information technology (Job Description). The major skills required for a chartered accountant are communications skills, computer skills, and listening skills. A chartered accountant needs communication skills, as they need to talk with their clients, and need to be able to effectively tell the client the advice they are giving. A chartered accountant needs to have computer skills, as they are constantly making calculations using a computer and using different programs to display financial information properly to their clients. Finally, a chartered accountant needs to have good listening skills, as they must give proper and full attention to what the client is saying, without interrupting unnecessarily in between (Do You Have it in You to Become a Chartered Accountant?). Personal abilities to have that are beneficial are strong interpersonal skills. This is because chartered accountants always have to communicate and be social with their clients. They are constantly put in a position where they have to share their expertise with companies and clients. So strong interpersonal skills are important so that they can effectively communicate information with their clients. Also, knowledge of computer programs for auditing and financing is a good personal aptitude to have.
