Spending too much time on the internet or social media has many side effects that affect our daily lives and it can also be deadly to humans, however there is one very simple solution.
The side effects of the internet or technology are countless however here are 5 ways that technology can affect our daily lives. Due to the over-exposure that children have had to the internet, games or texting, kids have gotten used to having whatever they want instantaneously at their fingertips in a mere matter of milliseconds (Martin). Kids have gotten used to having whatever they want as soon as they ask for it, and that has led to deteriorated patience and an elevated exasperation because then they have to wait. “The excessive usage of online chatting and shortcuts has led today’s young generation’s writing skills decline tremendously” (Martin). Technology is hindering today’s youth and their ability to socialize is affecting their capacity to read, write, and communicate. Today’s youth depend on careful considerations for the implementation of technology. Our youth do not have the capability to convey their emotions through the use of technology, understand sadness, happiness or joy through simple text or emails. Communicating through the use of text, chat, and social network sites is lost using abbreviations and slang, inhibiting the use of the Standard English language.
Technology is truly taking a turn for the worst on mental health. Technology is the future, it’s supposed to be the greatest thing to ever happen. Although technology may be helping the world out, it is hurting the people who use it.
