As shootings begin to happen more frequently, Congress feels like throwing up more laws is going to fix it; when in reality that will not help. It is human nature for the majority of people in the world to want to break rules, or in this case laws, solely just because they are there to break. Therefore, Congress should not create more gun control for it is unconstitutional. In the event that Congress makes more laws, they should expect more crime than without them. Does taking guns away solve the problem; well not exactly. Reprehending the rights to have guns is a good intention but condemn rights of law abiding citizens. Those who use guns for safety do not give reason for guns to be taken because of others lack of knowledge. There will never be a perfect world where there is no violence or shootings. And abundant amount of factors go into how those who commit crimes fall to the state of mind that they do. A child only learns from what they are taught, or lack thereof, and what they see. Children constructed in a well lifestyle are not the ones in their later adult life that commit these kinds of crimes. Those who do not have the right parenting or the right living style can lead to an unstable conscientious. They are more likely to have erratic thoughts and actions. Others do not have the control over their thoughts; they are mentally ill and not at fault for it. Though they are lawless and dangerous, there is mass discussion about mental health affecting gun crimes; this is true, just not in all cases. It is arduous trying not to single them out of things because of mental instability but sometimes there is too much on the line to give that opportunity. Most gun crimes are done with guns that do not belong to the shooter. St... ... middle of paper ... ...en care of. Works Cited ("10 Arguments Against Gun Control." Listverse. Gun control is a very controversial subject now days in politics. My personal view on gun control is that it will never work. I'm am just fore warning you that this paper may be a little bias, but I'll try to give views from both sides.
Some people believe that extremely tight gun control laws will eliminate crime, but gun control laws only prevent the 'good guys' from obtaining firearms. Criminals will always have ways of getting weapons, whether it be from the black market, cross borders, or illegal street sales. New gun control laws will not stop them. Since the shootings of Columbine High School, Virginia Tech, and Sandy Hook, the frequency of mass shootings has increased greatly. Gun control is not effective as it has not been shown to actually reduce the number of gun-related crimes. Instead of considering a ban of private firearm possession, and violating individual ownership rights, it may be more practical to consider the option of partially restricting firearm access.

Gun control laws aim to restrict or regulate firearms by selecting who can sell, buy and possess certain guns. Criminals do not obey laws and stricter gun control laws or banning guns will have little effect on reducing crimes. There are many myths about gun control reducing acts of gun violence, which are simply not true according to research. People are responsible for the crimes, not the guns themselves. Taking guns away from United States citizens that use them for many reasons, shooting practice, competition, hunting and self-defense, should not be punished for the acts of criminals. As stated by Mytheos Holt, “Guns in the right hands help public safety. Guns in the wrong hands harm public safety”. Research shows that defensive use of guns discourages criminals and reduces crime (Holt 2). Not only is it wrong to penalize law-abiding citizens, it is against the Second Amendment. It is unconstitutional to pass laws that infringe on the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

There is no single answer to end the debate on gun control. Many variables must be examined but the evidence presented cannot be ignored. Gun control does not end violence, but makes the law-abiding citizens more vulnerable. In the 1878 Arkansas case of Wilson v. State, a judge stated, “Common sense dictates that inanimate objects, such as guns, are not responsible for human behavior. We don’t hold a match responsible for arson or a camera responsible for pornography. We rightly hold the people who misuse these tools liable. The same should be true for guns.”
The conversation of gun control and gun regulation has been a great debate over the decades. NRA Executive vice president Wayne LaPierre, in his speech on Newtown Shooting that occurred on December 21st, 2012, addresses the topic of gun control and argues that guns are not the cause of gun violence. LaPierre's project is to instead of gun control and decreasing the numbers of guns, increase the numbers of guns to solve the problem of gun violence. On the other side of debate, an American journalist, Nicholas Kristof, in his journal, "Do We Have the Courage to Stop This?" argues that guns are the cause of gun violence, but they should not be banned. Kristof's project is to regulate guns with many cautions. While these two authors have different arguments and projects, they use similar strategies to advance their claims. This paper will focus on the way each author strategically uses compare and contrast, cause and effect, and problem-solution to advance their claims and how effective these strategies are used.
