Why do we as humans feel as if testing on animals will somehow lead us to great findings and advances in medicines and cosmetics? As if an animal has the same DNA as us or the same genes. What if the animal on the testing table was your beloved dog or cat? Would you then think differently about the products you 're buying? The human race is nothing like the animals we test on. It is selfish of us to use animals for our own personal reasons. Although there are many reasons we as humans test on animals there are also many more reasons we should not. They are constantly being prodded and poked. They are euthanized, anesthetized, and intubated. These are the most common lab procedures which technically should be performed by someone with a lot of training, yet most of the lab personnel lack experience. The lab conditions are extremely poor. Small crowded cages that lack activity usually cause stress in animals. “Undercover lab investigations show animals biting wounds, mutilating themselves, and ripping out their own hair. This is called “stress- induced psychosis”. Stress experiments include immobilizing mice and rats in tubes, suspending them by their tales, and forcing them to swim to avoid drowning. “Researchers claimed these experiments had relevance to human anxiety and depression”. Animals do not live in the real world nor do they have the same anxiety or stress that humans have. Lab experiments cannot replicate real stress from jobs or school. Is animal testing really worth taking away animal’s valuable lives? No, I think it’s wrong, inhumane, and cruel. Animals have feelings like humans do and they should be treated with respect even though they are just animals.When animals are tested over time they live in cruel and harsh conditions. They are tied up and changed to their cages or devices they are being tested on. Almost all tests fail in humans and it is not worth sacrificing an animals life.Think about all the things animals have to go through all the harsh and cruel treatment.They are put in conditions where they are not allowed to eat or drink and move around. Is it really worth killing an animals for eyeliner that will never hit the market or for drugs that all fail in humans. So here are some of the reasons I think we should ban all animal testing.
One must remember that scientists who carry out animal testing are human to and most definitely do feel some sense of guilt using these animals for the sole reason to benefit mankind. However, “if there were good alternatives to animals that worked better or as well, for less money and hassle, scientists would use them” (Source D). Many believe that animals testing is wrong, but they must understand that at the current time there is no other option. It is difficult to find a different practice has been so substantial and has improved millions of lives and society as a whole. Every year, millions of animals are injured or killed in scientific experiments across the world. Those in favor of animal experimentation say they’re taking animals’ lives to save humans. But is it really necessary to subject animals to torturous conditions or painful experiments in the name of science? Is it ethical to destroy an animal’s life while simply testing lipstick or shampoo? Animal experimentation, like many of the issues we face today, is difficult to argue against, and just as hard to support, but it is necessary to continue this experimentation in order to advance human knowledge and to help save human lives.

Meaning that animals have the same body components and features as humans and is the best thing to research on to better understand the human development. Even though several argue that animal testing is harming the animals, one has to think back to all the benefits that has come from it. And although these animals may be considered protected under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) they are still able to be tortured and mistreated in labs. On top of all this, there is absolutely no guarantee that results and data collected from these procedures are accurate. Our anatomic builds are similar in ways but not at all interchangeable. Even though it has saved lives, animal experimentation should be banned because it is not a guarantee that these procedures are done pain free and humans and animals react differently to the medicines and chemicals used.

Animal testing is killing off innocent beings for the possible human benefit, and with modern technology, there are alternative ways to test products that leave animals unharmed.
