Did you know that most of the products you are using as of today are tested on animals? Animal testing is the act of products tested on animals that causes them pain and stress. Animal testing should be stopped at all costs since it causes animals to go through painful treatments, animal testing costs millions of dollars that could be used otherwise, and is an inhumane process. The treatments that are done to animals are very painful. The innocent animals go through being burned, shocked, poisoned, isolated and starved. It takes seven hundred thousand dollars to perform one twenty-four month cancer test on rats, the U.S. spends sixteen billion dollars annually for animal testing at taxpayers expense. Companies have a choice about whether or not to test on animals. Animal tests continue because some companies insist on developing and using new ingredients. Every year the federal government spends over twelve billion on unnecessary animal experiments such as, a reproductive/developmental screen. Which is when male and female rats are fed a test substance and then are mated after a month. They continue to feed the pregnant rat the substance until her pups are born. Four days after birth the mother and the pups are killed and tissues are examined. This is to test the effects on the ability to reproduce and amount of birth defects. 92% of experimental drugs that are safe and effective in animals fail in human clinical trials because they don 't work or they are dangerous. Using dogs, rats, mice and rabbits to test whether or not a drug will be safe for humans provides little statistically useful insight. Medical breakthroughs involving animal research may still have been made without the use of testing on animals. Alternative testing methods now exist that can replace the need for animals. Majority of the test that are being test on animals don 't work for humans as well. Animal testing can be very misleading animals react a completely different way than human do. Animal get locked in cages and that can make them feel stress, and stress leads to high blood pressure which will make you react to medicine a different way. Animals are not ours to torture and do research on, animals feel pain just as much as human. Is animal testing really worth taking away animal’s valuable lives? No, I think it’s wrong, inhumane, and cruel. Animals have feelings like humans do and they should be treated with respect even though they are just animals.When animals are tested over time they live in cruel and harsh conditions. They are tied up and changed to their cages or devices they are being tested on. Almost all tests fail in humans and it is not worth sacrificing an animals life.Think about all the things animals have to go through all the harsh and cruel treatment.They are put in conditions where they are not allowed to eat or drink and move around. Is it really worth killing an animals for eyeliner that will never hit the market or for drugs that all fail in humans. So here are some of the reasons I think we should ban all animal testing.

The findings and conclusions from animal testing rarely work the same way on humans and an enormous amount of money is spent on failed attempts. The rate of success of transferring test results to humans is too low to justify the expense. Taxpayers would be wise to invest this money in alternative methods such as technological advancements. While it may not be possible to completely diminish animal testing, significant reductions need to be made in order to advance the state of technology and improve overall results. Advancements in medicine must be made without perpetuating needless suffering to helpless creatures. Testing needs to stop; animals don’t deserve any of this painful punishment.

Companies claim that this sort of cruelty will benefit the human population by testing the “safety” of the products, as they have been for hundreds of years, and although this may have been helpful in the past, scientists have discovered otherwise. “While funding for animal experimentation and the number of animals tested on continues to increase, the United States still ranks 49th in the world in life expectancy and second worst in infant mortality in the developed world” (“Animal Testing Is”). This evidence shows that while we still continue to support and spend money on animal testing, it is not working as well as we thought.

And although these animals may be considered protected under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) they are still able to be tortured and mistreated in labs. On top of all this, there is absolutely no guarantee that results and data collected from these procedures are accurate. Our anatomic builds are similar in ways but not at all interchangeable. Even though it has saved lives, animal experimentation should be banned because it is not a guarantee that these procedures are done pain free and humans and animals react differently to the medicines and chemicals used.
Hundreds of millions of animals die every year from animal testing in the United States. Innocent animals are used everyday in laboratories for biology advancements, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food, and cosmetic testing. They are used to provide information to make better products that are safe for human use. Although animal experimentation has some benefits, the negatives outweigh the positives. Animal testing is killing off innocent beings for the possible human benefit, and with modern technology, there are alternative ways to test products that leave animals unharmed.
