Some rulers are fair, kind, and have the goal of making the area they have control over the best it can be to everybody living in it. Other rulers do not have the same idea. They are deceiving and the actions they take ultimately hurt all of the people in the area they rule. Joseph Stalin was one of the deceiving rulers of the Soviet Union. He worked many people to death and those who did not agree with him were sent to labor camps. In the novella, Animal Farm, this occurs as well. There was a revolution on the farm and the pig, Napoleon, takes control. Using threats and harsh punishments, he becomes a dictator, just like Stalin. Animal Farm was a metaphor for the Russian Revolution. The animals on the farm overthrew the farmer who treated them unfairly, and they began their own government. As time went on the pigs made themselves rulers, the main pig in charge being Napoleon. Napoleon started to make the other farm animals do all the work while he relaxed and ordered others around. He trained the dogs to punish those who did not follow the rules of the farm, the main punishment being death. All the animals were under strict guidelines and had lost their freedom on their way to finding it again. This relates to Russian government almost identically. When Lenin, a communist leader, died, he put Joseph Stalin and Leon Trotsky against each other for power. S...

Napoleon and Stalin both had a plan to make the place they controlled better, but they did not have to do the work, the people that they ruled had to. Stalin wanted his country to be completely devoted to him, the same way Napoleon wanted the farm to belong to him. The actions taken in order to reach this goal were cruel and uncivilized. Working people in dangerous conditions, almost to death, will not get your country very far. George Orwell directly relates the windmill, the executions, and the dogs to events that happened during Stalin’s era. Stalin was a deceiving ruler, just like Napoleon. George Orwell’s Animal Farm is a political satire that critiques the way Stalin ruled the Soviet Union in an inhumane way.

Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novel based on the lives of a society of animals living on the Manor Farm. Although the title of the book suggests the book is merely about animals, the story is a much more in depth analysis of the workings of society in Communist Russia. The animals are used as puppets to illustrate how the communist class system operated and how Russian citizens responded to this. And also how propaganda was used by early Russian leaders such as Stalin, and the effort this type of leadership had on the behavior of the people of Russia.

The struggle for superiority between Leon Trotsky, a Russian revolutionary, and Stalin, a Soviet statesman, is portrayed by the rivalry between the pigs, Napoleon and Snowball. In both cases, the less powerful one, Trotsky and Snowball, is eliminated by the more superior one, Stalin and Napoleon. Stalin's rule and abandonment of the founding principles of the Russian Revolution are portrayed when the pigs adopt human traits and behaviors, which they originally tried to escape. “Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. The saying “history repeats itself” is used quite often, but how many times have you actually seen it happen? The book Animal Farm portrays the idea of history repeating itself. The character Benjamin and the pigs in the story show history repeating itself throughout the book. In addition to these characters within the book, North Korea displays history's repetition outside the book.
In his book, Orwell uses his allegorical farm to symbolize the communist system. Though the original intention of overthrowing Mr. Jones (who represents the Czars), is not inherently evil in itself, Napoleon’s subsequent adoption of nearly all of Mr. Jones’ principles and harsh mistreatment of the animals proves to the reader that indeed communism is not equality, but just another form of inequality. The pigs and dogs take most of the power for themselves, thinking that they are the best administrators of government. Eventually the power corrupts them, and they turn on their fellow animals, eliminating competitors through propaganda and bloodshed. This is of course a reference to Stalin, who murdered many of his own people in order to maintain his dictatorship of Russia.
"He who wants to persuade should put his trust not in the right argument, but in the right word. The power of sound has always been greater than the power of sense."
5. Setting is a working farm. The setting allows the microcosm of the Animal Farm to be basically undisturbed. Had it been close to a big city or other small towns, then there would have been more interruptions and challenges to Napoleon’s take

After the death of Lenin, his chief lieutenant Leon Trotsky and Joseph Stalin fought for control of the country. Stalin was able to win out over Trotsky and gain control of the Russian government. He felt that Lenin and Trotsky’s socialistic ideas were flawed in that they were to wait for other countries to revolt and become socialistic as well. Staling believed that a single country could make socialism .
In the world today animals are treated poorly and are overworked under harsh conditions. In Animal Farm by George Orwell the idea of Animalism and lack of freedom is shown. Old Major gave an inspiring speech about how the animals live together without humans. After not being fed the animals attack Jones and end up taking over the farm. The animals survive on the farm, by making commandments, assigning jobs, and soon electing a leader. With Snowball and Napoleon guiding them they soon come across an amazing idea that could shorten the work week. After debating on the different viewpoints they both had on the windmill, Napoleon trains dogs to attack Snowball. With Napoleon now as the leader and Squealer as his spokesman they both run “Animal Farm”. With the victory at the Battle of Cowshed the animals start to have hope, after the windmill was knocked down by the humans everything falls apart. After years of mistreatment the animals decide to fight back. Unknowingly they place themselves under a manipulating leader. The animals soon believe that Napoleon is always right. In the end they lose their strongest most dedicated animal, Boxer. ...n tries to control the animals on the farm at every cost, much like Joseph Stalin did during the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics(USSR). As a result of the Russian Revolution, Joseph Stalin was a selfish ruler who does everything that is possible even if his own people are in danger. In Animal Farm, George Orwell uses Napoleon to show that Joseph Stalin was a selfish leader who only cared about himself and the farm. The main cause of the Russian Revolution was, Old Major who was known as Lenin. Lenin wanted to change the way the people were living but he did make any difference, because Czarism and Communism resulted the same conflict at the end. Due to the Russian Revolution, people still suffered and they still had a hard time living. We would all be wise to consider what Orwell is trying to convince readers to accept the failures of the farm and Russia itself.

The story unfolds on an average farm, inhabited by oppressed animals under the ruthless rule of the farmer, Mr. Jones. Never had they thought to act upon their poor treatment, until Old Major, one of the prized pigs on the farm, dreams that the animals unite to overthrow the humans and lead the farm on their own. The animals are overjoyed at this idea, and label it “animalism”. Inspired by this philosophy, the farm, led by two pigs, Napoleon and Snowball, chase Jones away from the farm and begin the animalist revolution. The animals are ecstatic at their victory, and the pigs, deemed the wisest animals on the farm, create seven commandments to ensure the happiness and equality of all creatures on Animal Farm, including rules such as “whoever goes upon two legs is an enemy”, “no animal shall
In Animal Farm by George Orwell, the dominating pigs are the ultimate hypocrites. They implement many harsh rules for the farm, but continuously bend and break them according to their own needs. These actions lead to the breakdown of the animals’ supposed communal society and make evident how the dystopian elements in the novel lead to a controlling and dictatorial government. Through the ruling class of pigs, Orwell is able to provide commentary on the authoritarian governments of his time, as well as those in the future. Animal Farm by George Orwell uses the dystopian elements of societal control and the illusion of perfection to provide a critique of authoritarian governments and their tyrannical impact on society.
