Animal cruelty from an experimentation standpoint to aid in the advancement of medicine is a down right abomination. Thus, animal experimentation should be banned as it is an immoral practice done on animals that are unable to fend for one’s self. Animal experimentation is one of the largest practices in the United States in aiding in ways to benefit science whether it’s to cure an ailment or just preserving the life of someone. “Each year over 100 million animals to include mice, rats frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamster, guinea, pigs, monkey, fish, and birds are killed in the Unites States. These animals are killed in laboratories, for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity driven experimentation, chemical, food, drug, and cosmetic testing.”(Experiments on Animals)
Some would say without the use of animal testing the advancements in science would have never been made, but is it better for one to sacrifice another gift from God for advancement in medicine or science. Nevertheless, there are three reasons as to why this form of advancement is wrong not only in the eyes of animal rights advocates but to about 50 percent of the US population. One, reason animal experimentation is wrong is the method in the way so many are being done today on any given basis. Second, as if the overwhelming number of animals that are being murdered on a day-to-day basis isn’t enough the success rates in comparison to the number of animals being slaughtered pales in comparison. Lastly, from a moral standpoint it is just wrong to kill someone or something for personal benefits. While it can be said that not all animal testing has resulted in such gruesome activities most of them have. It remains a fact that while there are still advancements that need to be made in the realm of medicine, research, science, etc. animals will continue to be kill on the ground of benefiting mankind for the greater good. It isn’t enough to say that there have been advancements made or discoveries made through experimentation; the killing of animals through these brutal tactics should be put to a stop. Whether it stop on the grounds of the methods in the way it’s being handle, based on the overall success rate, or on an ethical level something has to happen soon in hopes of helping these poor animals.
