Animal Cruelty; the Bloody War

Let the voiceless speak.

Animals have roamed the harsh lands and glided through the rough waters for approximately 510 million years, while humans have only been around for an estimated 200,000 years (Cain/Ramel). The earth had been the Animal Kingdom for about 509 million years until Homo sapiens started appearing, growing as fast as bacteria. They became a part of the food chain, on top; their minds were far more complex than most of the animals. They were able to think deeper, their bipedality allowed them to hunt better, and of course, their opposable thumbs were a defiant advantage over these animals (Cain). Over time these humans began taking over the animal’s kingdom, using their minds to exploit the animals for nutrition, warmth, and for sport. Soon these people started to deceive the animals, which is now what we call animal cruelty. There are some that treat animals as if they were a king or queen, nevertheless 65 billion animals, each year, are abused, killed for food, used for scientific and medical testing, entertainment, and clothing. Animal cruelty; the bloody war that we must fight together to save the voiceless.

At one point in our lives we’ve all been asked this question: if you were an animal, what animal would you be? We sit and ponder then we simply say that animal, but what we don’t realize is how these animals, that we picked to be, are really treated. The real question should be; would you rather be a respected animal or a battered animal? Most would answer, respected. But, as we see in the world masses of these animals are being abused and killed daily and “Every year, 6 to 8 million dogs and cats enter shelters, and 3 to 4 million shelter dogs and cats are killed (Ernst)...
