Seeing maimed animals are not pleasant images. Those images sometimes appear across computer and television screens. The advocacy groups who place these images in the public’s view are trying to jolt people into the realization that abuse exists. For every ten seconds that goes by an animal is getting abused (“Animal… Statistics”). One statistic states that “71% of pet-owning women entering women’s shelters reported that their batterer had injured, maimed, killed or threatened family pets for revenge or to psychologically control victims; 32% reported their children had hurt or killed animals” (“Animal… Violence”). Animal cruelty comes in several forms, some of which people do not know. There is animal experimenting, animal abuse, and mistreatment of animals. and through revealing the results from research, one discovers the horrific effects of animal abuse.
Some believed the main causes of animal abuse was because the owner was abused as a child. “There can be many reason for animal cruelty, like any other form of violence, is often committed by a person who feels powerless, unnoticed, or under control of others. Some who are cruel to animals copy acts what they have seen or that have been done to them, others see harming an animal as a safe way to get revenge against--or threaten-- someone who cares about that animal”. (“Animal… Statistics”) Concerns towards abusing animals have gone up in the past. Although there are not many cases on animal abuse, many have occurred. Abusers are charged with Criminal Animal Abuse and then sentenced to life in prison. Some animals that are physically abused are sometimes rescued by Animal Control, and are taken it to an animal shelter. However, many shelters have not had the space to keep...

... sometimes not be so accurate (“Should…Testing”). For example, in the 1950’s, a drug was given to pregnant women to help them sleep that caused over 10,000 babies to have a birth defect. After the affects, scientist went back to researching and trying to make the pill better. Refusing to take the pill out of stores there was over 27,000 heart attacks and deaths on a lot of people. (“Should… Testing”) Although scientific research is necessary, many Christians uphold Bible standards regarding animal abuse, this is mentioned in Proverbs 12:10.
The abuse is present; fortunately, laws are being implemented to retard the number of cases. Experimenting, beating, and hurting represent some of these forms, and now people are taking action to report the abuser. Those images are horrific to view, but now legal action can be taken to deter these crimes on Earth’s habitat.
