Section 1: Executive Summary

Since 1976 Apple’s innovation has helped the company become a market leader in computer and mobile electronics. Through this time the company has faced a number of challenges either it be an internal power struggles or criticism from the media for certain aspects of their business model. This report covers five different issues that the company is facing or may face in the future.

The findings include information on the weakness and strengths that Apple has developed. It strengths are in the way the company has structured their suppliers through creating the code of conduct which must be followed by all suppliers. The supplier code of conduct has helped many workers to gain fair pay and better working conditions. Their company however has been structured to foster innovation trough placing the employee as the most important. They have done this through allowing flexible working standards and limiting the policies that employees would need to follow. The company’s weaknesses are shown through the dominative presence they have over their products, by not allowing rival companies access to the platform. A corporate culture of secrecy is also evident from the way media are always kept at a distance. It is shown from the way the company limits its press conferences to only a handful of media. Power and conflict are also seen as occurring because of the number of executives who are willing to take the CEO position if Steve Jobs were to leave.

Some recommendations would be for the company to have stricter policies regarding the auditing process, as there are still some suppliers that seem to breach rules. Planning also needs to be done regarding who is the most likely candidate for becoming Apple’s next ...
