What is your opinion of the idea that the ability to face hardship is an essential Human Quality?

Statement: The ability for an individual to endure hardship is a testament to the endurance of human spirt. The ability to defeat hardship isn 't something everyone has but I assume that having that ability is something that should be an essential human quality.

The short story “Always looking up” is a small article about a man talking about how hardship is part of life. He uses his kids as an example of hardship. He hates seeing his kids take responsibility for their failures and disappoints because he knows it hurts them, but he is also proud of them for doing so. Fahrenheit 451 is about a fire man named Guy Montag, who 's job is not to put out fires but to set them. The Novel is about a city that books are band from and news papers are dead and the only media they are allowed is tv. The reason why books are illegal is because books contain knowledge, and thats something that the city doesn 't want them to have. Guy Montag’s job was to set every book he saw on fire, every house that contained the books, and anyone who lived among those books. Humanity was already destroyed by then and none of the people that lived in the city had any recognition of what was going on because no one knew that kind of knowledge. The city offers plenty of free time but no real time to think, looking at the circumstances now i see why no ones done anything about this issue, because in their eyes the society is perfect and there are no flaws. This is where Guy Montag comes in, Montag is a guy that can be easily influenced by pretty much anyone, hens why he thought that burning books was right all along. Until one day he met a 17 year old girl named Clarisse. She opened his mind and woke him up to think that things could be different. Guy Montag had always questioned the society that doesn 't allow free thought but never considered how much of a bad thing that really was. This just shows that a city with “no mistakes and no failure” is actually a failure in itself, but the people are too content with watching Tv to look around and realize that there is anything wrong. The moment Guy Montag realized what a disaster that city really was, was the moment he realized that his whole life had been a failure. He was used and betrayed and i know deep down he was hurt, but that didn 't stop Guy Montag from doing what was right. Once he realized that he failed he knew he had to do something about it.
