To be a True Blue Aussie you have to have a mate because “You've to have a mate,” as verbalized by poet Dave Butler in 2013. For in Aussie culture, a mate is a person whose actions speak louder than their words. In Australia, being a mate is a value that is held in the highest respect.
In the documentary “Fed Up,” sugar is responsible for Americas rising obesity rate, which is happening even with the great stress that is set on exercise and portion control for those who are overweight. Fed Up is a film directed by Stephanie Soechtig, with Executive Producers Katie Couric and Laurie David. The filmmaker’s intent is mainly to inform people of the dangers of too much sugar, but it also talks about the fat’s in our diets and the food corporation shadiness. The filmmaker wants to educate the country on the effects of a poor diet and to open eyes to the obesity catastrophe in the United States. The main debate used is that sugar is the direct matter of obesity. Overall, I don’t believe the filmmaker’s debate was successful.

The movie Shock Doctrine revolves around the concept of the same name. The film begins by discussing psychological research on the effects of shock therapy. It is evident that a person under extreme stress and anxiety commonly experienced during a crisis functions and performs inadequately. It is noted that the studies are conducted by a man by the name of Milton Friedman, from the University of Chicago; the studies took place in the past, and some of the subjects are still recovering in the aftermath. From this research, interrogation techniques were learned and the concept of the shock doctrine was formed. Essentially through causing a crisis, the population of a country can be shocked into complying with accepting laws that favors the United States and capitalism. This theory coexists with Friedman’s belief in that government regulation is bad, and through a crisis a country would better itself with deregulation. The video uses Chile as an example and shows how America allowed a crisis to occur in Chile, through coups, interrogations and subterfuge. In the end a new government is formed that allows capitalism. Unfortunately afterwards violence and riots occur, as the rich gain most of the wealth and poverty rises. In addition to Chile, Argentina, Russia and even Iraq underwent the shock doctrine. Almost in every account, poverty rises and violence ends up erupting. The movie ends by showing how the US was in the process of the shock doctrine, and still is but the population has taken notice. Protests such as Occupy Wall Street are some of the initiatives necessary to bring awareness to the problems of class inequalities in order to prevent capitalism from benefitting the rich and increasing the wealth gap among the classes.
Enough is a 2002 thriller directed by Michael Apted and written by Nicholas Kazan. This film is very similar to the Stephen King’s 1995 film adaptation of Dolores Claiborne directed by Taylor Hackford. The protagonists in both these films find themselves trapped in abusive relationships and turn to drastic means to protect themselves and their daughters. In the film Enough, Slim runs away with her daughter from her abusive husband to protect her life whereas, Dolores, in Dolores Claiborne is trapped in her little small town with her husband who is abusive to her and is now sexually abusing their daughter. These women find themselves in these abusive relationships and become empowered to take control of their lives. The writers skillfully use literary elements in these films to convey this message.

A League of Their Own (Marshall, 1992) explicitly characterizes an American era when a woman’s place was in the home. Even our modern perspective implicitly follows suit. Although women have gained rights and freedoms since the 1930’s, sexism remains prevalent in America. This film offers an illustration when men went to war and big business men utilized women as temporary replacements in factories, sports, and so on. Here, course concepts, such as gender socialization, gender expressions, role stereotypes, emotion expressions, and language, correspond to the film’s characters and themes.
Hayao Miyazaki has been revolutionary in Japanese animation. A mangaka (an artist/writer/creator of manga, Japanese comics), an animator, and storyteller, Miyazaki has not only been very successful in his work, well known and loved by many, but has changed the world of anime with his unique style of drawing. Through passion and hard work, Miyazaki has become one of the most successful animators in all of Japan.
By giving a hard thought toward the end of the movie. Thus, these two films have a fantasy world that makes them both successful. Disney uses a fantastic to crave a visual with a purpose to the viewers to enjoy and pleasure to the viewers. On the other hand, Miyazak use a fantasy to spiritual transformation with a “self-betterment” and the environment of the film. However, many films always send a message to viewers, but it always hard to think what the message is. Disney message always sends a message to believe and have hope. As well, in Ghibli films a message is more about the importance, respect for the world and learn to live with a pure heart. Though Disney magic is more with sprinkles dust and pixie. On the other hand, Ghibli has a magical on its own with charms, talking heads and castle in the sky. Ghibli is magic with good and bad. Miyazki true magic is not like Disney it’s more memorable and nonetheless. Again, Disney has inspired wonder towards believes in the fantasy world. Disney is a fantasy as an escapism. But Ghibli uses more fantastic to civilisation, and a clearly echo with Miyazki’s films to transformation the magic within. But Ghibli wants the children to vision the two-dimensionality of his artwork by using music to inspire the magic of imaginations. Similarly, to Disney but in one-dimensionality to bring out the fantasy fairy tale to transform the magic
Miyazaki is well known creating well-developed characters and Princess Mononoke is a good example showing these qualities along with a strong message on environmentalism and an underlying theme of feminism.
...rests but, “Princess Mononoke’s principal strength lies is in asking the audience to think about compassion for the poor and disenfranchised in tandem with care for nature,” (29). In the movie the opposing sides were carefully assigned; however, condemning one side in favor for the other is out of the question because there is certain good to each side. To compare this environmental kid movie to others like “Over the Hedge” is that Princess Mononoke challenges the audience to understand the motivation behind both sides and to find a way to integrate each side sustainably.
Environmental art is a genre of art that was established in the late 1960’s and it was created by things found in nature to make a piece of art. Some of the the environmental art would be so large in size, that it would be considered to be monumental. This kind of art can not be moved without destroying it, and the climate and weather can change it. There are many reasons why an artist would create an environmental work of art, such as : to address environmental issues affecting earth today, to show things that could be powered by nature or be interactive with natural phenomenon (like lighting or earthquakes), or to show how people can co-exist with nature, or maybe use it as a means to help restore ecosystems in an aesthetic way. (greenmuseum) Based on the artworks of Michael Heizer, Walter de Maria, and Robert Smithson, that have created and expanded the wonderful genre of environmental art. The major concepts underlying their art will define the roots of this genre throughout history.
Animation has turned into a worldwide medium of use and it is no longer a slave to Hollywood. The vastness of CGI will change the character and the content of film animation. In addition to filling entertainment in theatres, television and even advertising departments, animation is an essential teaching element for education and industry. Animation is no longer looked down upon as a poor relative to live action film making. Soon animation will be used in medicine for performing live surgeries virtually. The world of animation will never die, just like how technology increases step by step, animation is also rising gradually. Therefore animation is definitely “The act of bringing to life”, where the impossible is made possible.
While watching the movie you feel for sad the Avatar people and anger towards the humans and corporations that are taking control, wanting to destroy the environment through mining to make money. It is a message of caution; look at how things could be in the 22nd century if we aren’t more careful with the resources the Earth provides now.
