In the article, Social Awareness + Emotional Skills by Tori DeAngelis, is about schools in the U.S. that don't have great health or strong connections with friends and nurturing adults. If we can develop a program in the schools to help children socially and emotionally these students they will advance more and become more successful with the help they earned from these programs. “Data show that only 29 percent of sixth through 12th grade students report that their schools provide caring, encouraging environments. Another 30 percent of high school students say they engage in high risk behaviors, such as substance use, sex, violence and even suicide attempts”(DeAngelis 2010). Students developing confusing feelings and behaviors tend to not do well in school. If social and emotional learning programs were implemented in schools, children will develop more confidence, become a happier, healthier and overall much more well rounded student. Social and emotional learning is easily learned at every age from infants all the way to adults.

The three important facts that support the main idea of developing programs for schools for social and emotional intelligence are: There have been many studies that have had a lot of success with students on implementing these type programs in their school environments. Also, another important fact is that it is far more important for children to have good emotional and social well-being and be successful in a social environment than thrive in only academic perfectness. Lastly, being able to have the ability to deal effectively with people in everyday life.

... and have come a long way since childhood. I know how important it is to give eye contact when I’m speaking with someone, and speak loudly and clearly. I even took a public speaking course last semester that helped me greatly. I know that sometimes when I think before I talk and take a deep breath it relaxes me and helps me.
