The purpose of this paper is for readers to gain the knowledge and have an understanding of how Prentice Hall’s Self-Assessment relates to an individual’s personality traits in everyday life situations. The assessment is broken down in three steps in a serious of questions that will have individuals learn about their behavior and characteristics and how these traits can have an effect not only in the work place, but also in your personal life. The assessment is a series of personality tests that will have a reflection on an individual and how they can either improve their traits to better themselves or learn new characteristics about themselves that they wasn’t aware of. It’s good to be a good listener, especially in the work place because you never know what an individual is going through in their personal life that could affect their ability to perform well on the job. As far as leadership style, I try to be the team player in helping out with others around me. I am very charismatic when it comes to management of attention, meaning, trust, risk, self, and of course feelings. I tend to work well with others and enjoy working in teams. Robbins and Judge (2009) states that creating effective teams in situations in which individuals can do the job better is equivalent to solving the wrong problem perfectly (p. 327). I have learned that I am very good at building and leading a team. I scored an 89 and I eventually do plan on becoming a manager at my job and eventually at my own business. As far as being a better employee, and co-worker, I can learn how to express my opinion and judgement more without seeming to be confrontational or trying to challenge my co-workers. I can be more openness to experience and be able to express my opinions. I don’t usually express my opinions on certain situations in which I should. Sometimes, I’m afraid that if I do speak my mind, I will be criticized, judged, and be marked in the office. A co-worker once told me if I don’t express how I feel to management, how they will know my feelings towards the job and others? I care more about individuals feelings because I don’t like to upset anyone. According to Prentice Hall’s Self-Assessment (2008) I need to be more assertiveness in standing up for myself as well as having self-respect. I believe that I do have self-respect for myself, I just need to learn how to stand up for myself. A prime example of this would be that when I first started in my current position, one of the coordinators would constantly talk down to me and I would never say anything because I was new and I didn’t want any problems. Ramsay, Troth, and Branch (2011) states “Members of some formal work groups experience high levels of conflict, bullying, and stress as do members of less formal networks.” It constantly kept happening until one day, another coordinator has seen this individual’s behavior towards me and reported it to management. Through the completion of the Myer-Briggs Personality and Jung Typology Test my personality traits were defined. With the defined personality that was developed, I am able to clearly depict my strengths and weaknesses. By detailing each individual aspect of my personality, I was able to further develop an understanding of my personality and how it is influenced and its influences on others. Since I am an introvert, I cannot use the avoidance as it relies on punishment but I can use approach which utilizes reward to get a response. By using reward and by being fair I can increase the status and probability and make the members more active. The purpose of this analysis is to identify my personality type, temperament, and how it relates to my behavior and success in the workplace. The first phase of this paper is to identify my four letter personality type using the Jung Typology Test which is based on Carl Jung’s and Isabel Briggs Myers personality type theory (Jung Typology Test, 2016). I will also discuss where I fall within Keirsey’s Temperaments; this personality typing combines two of the four sets of preferences in to four distinct temperament categories (Personalitypage, 2015a). Keirsey identified four basic temperaments known as Guardian, Rational, Artisan, and Idealist (Keirsey, n.d.). I will explain each of the four letters of my type and provide specific examples of how they relate to me in both a professional and personal level. In the final phase I will discuss my personality strengths and weaknesses and how I can use the assessment for overall personal growth.
The goal of the personality assessments was to provide a better understanding of all of the individuals. Prior research indicated that certain personality types are best matched with certain tasks. The bases of this paper will be based on the results that I had obtained when I took the Myers-Briggs personality test. The results that I had obtained was that I was determined to be an ENFJ. I will go into depth about letter and how each represents that a specific aspect of my personality. The results that I had received were not what I had expected, but the more I read about the trait the more I realized how it suited me. I will also talk about the information that I had found useful from the book, Type Talk at Work: How the 16 Personalities Types Determine Your Success on the Job by Otto Kroeger, which gave me insight on how to interact with other personality types especially in the work environment. The information that I absorbed from the personality test and from the book will go into use in my personal and work life so that both environments will be cohesive and peaceful.
As a college student I am faced with many situations throughout my daily life, while I believed I maintain a certain consistent personality through the process of this paper I was able to identify how my personality differed or stayed the same based on situations I was in. Through the course of this study, I was able to identify when five of what I feel are my most prominent personality traits were most prevalent and how they changed depending on the situation. The five personality traits I chose were humorous, imaginative, sarcastic, optimistic, and helpful. The situations I choose to look at were me in class, at work, with a friend, with family, and when I was alone studying.

An individual’s personality is the basis of who they are and generates how they react to and behave in different situations. Personality testing is used in workplaces to identify whom to hire, promote and even put into teams. Personality testing is efficient in being able to determine which employees will perform best in certain roles, and this can remove some stress from employers. Personal testing has been shown to help improve the quality of employees who are in the workplace. The method of assessing personalities that will be examined in this essay is the Big Five taxonomy method. The two main questionnaires, which are used to determine these traits, are the Sixteen Personality Factor (16PF) Questionnaire and the NEO personality test. A participant’s results from a personality survey will be analysed to determine what their results mean for current and future workplace behaviour. Finally, this essay will review a case study and it will be explained why personality testing should be used in the workplace and what other work contexts these tests can take place in.

Throughout my life I have encountered the chance to experience position of being a leader. Being part of groups in university for class presentations, being the organizing secretary of my campus fellowship, being a youth leader in my church and the church admin, also being part of a family. Leaders are charismatic, inspirational and trust worthy. I have gained some important qualities of being a good leader through these experiences. Most of the valuable leadership’s characteristics that I obtained and strengthened are: learn to become a better leader every day, how to be a team player, to be a better listener, to be an effective communicator, to have more patience, not afraid of constructive criticism, to be outspoken, and to be a problem solver. Even though I have gained a lot, I still have more things to learn to become a better leader such as being more assertive, being more disciplined, becoming a better public speaker, and learn how to be realistic and not too optimistic. You are a leader if someone else choses to follow you.
According to the study of this course, I have learned many useful management skills and I feel like these skills will be applied to my future career development. When working on the self- assessment tests, I found myself fall into the category of the ISTJ personality types, which as illustrated by Myers Briggs, is the type of personality that is conscientious, considerate, and helpful. Personality traits such as honest, dutiful, practical and responsible are my strengths; personality traits such as stubborn, insensitive and poor communication skill are my weaknesses. Related to the knowledge I have learned in the course I believe both strengths and weakness will have influence to my future career development. In this reflection paper, I will demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses that may place the most influence on my way of success.
The concept of personality has numerous definitions (Fatahi, Moradi, & Kashani-Vahid, 2016). Schultz and Schultz (2009), define personality in its broad sense as the manner of an individual’s behaviour in different situations. This essay explores the nature of personality, with the intention of highlighting its flexibility. The results of numerous empirical research studies are examined in order to investigate if, and how personality changes over time. It will be argued that an individual’s personality has the ability to change throughout their life.
