Paul McCartney and John Lennon wrote and released “Eight Days a Week” during their transitional period in late 1964 to 1965. This song was musically distinct, due to its unique structure of an intro followed by the first verse, a chorus, the second verse, and then a bridge. The first verse is repeated after the bridge and is followed by the chorus, the bridge, the second verse, the chorus and then the outro. This is strikingly different than the form of “And I Love Her” which is mainly verse dominated. An interesting development in their musical style for this song is that they included handclaps in the background of their vocals. The song begins with a faded intro, which is a first for any rock or pop song. This drew the listener in, and caused …show more content…
I feel that this song discusses the desire to have someone to love and support a person even when the person does not have much. This is shown by the line “I ain’t got nothing but love, girl” which indicates that though he may not have much, he can still make a girl feel appreciated and be involved in a serious relationship with her. This song has many innuendos in the lyrics, such as the repetition of the phrase “Hold me, love me” which could be seen in a sexual manner. The frisky feeling used in this song also supports the idea of sexual innuendos in the lyrics. The love expressed in this song can be seen in the lines “Love you every day, girl/Always on my mind”. This shows the devotion of the man to the girl that he is singing this song too. In the first verse, McCartney sings the lines “Hope you need my love, babe/Just like I need you” which shows the insecurity that occurs in a relationship from time to time. “Eight days a week,” the title of the song, is sung in the second verse as well as in the bridge, and in the outro. This shows that the amount of love that the subject of the song has for his girl is unlimited and continues on for all eternity since there are only seven days a week. In my opinion, the high pitched “Ooh” at the beginning of both repetitions of the first verse seem to initiate the frisky feeling that is created by the rhythm of the …show more content…
A prime example of this is the use of the plagal cadence that is sung at the beginning of the first verse. This plagal cadence supports the opening lyrics of “Ooh, I need your love, babe” as well as the frisky feeling that is given off by the lyrics as well. The plagal cadence draws the listener in, as stated above, and is similar to an introductory sentence of a story, in that it attracts the listener to hear more of the story. The high pitch “Ooh” at the beginning of the first line of the first verse is meant to excite the listener and initiates the feeling of friskiness and happiness throughout the song, which is supported by the rhythm of the song. The structure of the song allows the bridge to become a prominent part of the single and emphasizes the frisky mood that I associate with the song. The structural difference between this song and “And I Love Her” show the growth of the Beatles as musicians and their willingness to experiment with their music as they obtained a new level of mastery in their music. Lines such as “Eight days a week/I love you/Eight days a week/Is not enough to show I care” provide the image of a man that does not have much but is willing to love his girl continuously. . His potential to love is unlimited, though it does not show in the amount of stuff that he has. This made the song relatable as the Beatles were just four working class
The song is not only expressing his love for girls, it’s also a metaphor for his love Hip-Hop. This is another example of Lupe’s Fiasco lyrical skills.
The first stanza describes the depth of despair that the speaker is feeling, without further explanation on its causes. The short length of the lines add a sense of incompleteness and hesitance the speaker feels towards his/ her emotions. This is successful in sparking the interest of the readers, as it makes the readers wonder about the events that lead to these emotions. The second and third stanza describe the agony the speaker is in, and the long lines work to add a sense of longing and the outpouring emotion the speaker is struggling with. The last stanza, again structured with short lines, finally reveals the speaker 's innermost desire to "make love" to the person the speaker is in love
The live theatrical production I chose to see was 9 to 5 The Musical. The production was performed by Fayetteville Technical Community College’s very own Fine Arts Department. The musical is based on the film released by Fox in 1980. Collin Higgins adapted the film from the book 9 to 5 written by Patricia Resnick. It wasn’t until 2008 that the film was adapted to a theatrical production. The production was originally brought to broadway by Robert Greenbait and Dolly Parton wrote the lyrics and the music for the Musical. The run on broadway was very short but the production later toured in other countries around the around the world.
In the short story “Time and Again” by the author, Breece D’J Pancake recounts the story of a veteran farmer who is a snow plow driver for a living. The nameless narrator is a widower and his son disappeared. Reading the short story for the first time it is apparent that the author makes it a challenge for their reader to understand the story. The story at first is confusing and leaves the reader questioning the character. After a second or third read, it is noticeable that the author sets clues and makes it more obvious that this is a story of a murderer. The author often uses clues and the use of syntax to expose who the narrator is as a character and how that influences his actions.
American Beauty/American Psycho was an album that was sung by the band Fall Out Boy in 2015. Fall Out Boy is an alternative/indie rock band with a little hint of pop in some of their songs. This album, which is the band’s most recent album, is full of a lot of good songs and songs that maybe some people wouldn’t like. Fall Out Boy is a face-paced band, which means their songs are faced-paced. A lot of their songs could be a little hard to understand for people who don’t listen to this kind of music. The album does not have many of these types of songs, which is why it is a favorite among Fall Out Boy fans.
Band members: Ron Carter (bass), Ali Shaheed Muhammad (DJ), Phife Dawg (vocals), Q-Tip (vocals), Busta Rhymes (vocals), Charlie Brown (vocals), Diamond D (vocals), Dinco D (vocals), Lord Jamar (vocals), Sadat X (vocals), Bryan Higgins (vocals), and James Jackson (vocals).
Britt Nicole was going through some difficult times in her life when she was seven years old. Her parents were going through a divorce and that made a huge impact in her life. At one moment she remembered running up to her room with tears in her eyes and opening her Precious Moments Bible. She grew up hearing her grandpa reach about Jesus and she needed Him more than ever and to rescue her in the moment. After crying out to Him she felt His presence fill her room. The singer Britt Nicole relates and explains in her blog,” All this time is my salvation story. It is how the story of how I met Jesus and a reminder that whatever we face in life, we don’t have to face it alone because Jesus promised to never leave us and forsake us.” This is the background of Britt Nicole’s song, “All This Time.” Through her hard times in life, Britt Nicole accepted Jesus in her heart and from that point, it modified her life. She feels relief about the acceptance of Jesus.
So that I don’t have to explain to them what it is about. Because I will not be describing nor will I explain what the artist meant from, when he was writing the song. I will be putting my own twist and thought about it. My main purpose is to make the audience think outside the box, and see how a totally different experience or event can relate somehow back to the song. That you can take something like “love you”, and somehow connect it back to a war or a celebration. The only limitation is your own
She describes how it affected her and how he was a negligent lover. She goes so in depth with her words and I felt just as hurt as she did when I heard the song. This can be interpreted as a message to all women and men who feel as though they are not being treated fairly in their relationships. If your significant other can drop you in a heartbeat, then they do not deserve your love. “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” is a remake of a song by Frankie Valli and the 4 seasons, but it ties in with the album so well. She speaks of a man that did her wrong, but she cannot seem to stop admiring him. Something a lot of people can relate to. There is nothing wrong with admiring from afar, but letting that same person that hurt you back into your life is a different story. Essentially this is just a playful song, and she is not encouraging people to start loving the abuser all over again. The final song is called “Tell Him (Live),” to wrap up the album she talks to everyone that did her wrong. She says despite all that they have done, she does not regret one thing in her life and she is happy with the person she is
“Over There” is a song written by George M. Cohan in 1917. Nora Bayes, Enrico Caruso, Billy Murray, Arthur Fields, and Charles King were among many who recorded the song. It was written as a propaganda piece encouraging young American men to join the army to fight in World War I. The song was incredibly popular, selling over two million copies of sheet music and one million copies of recordings by the end of the war. Cohan, the writer, was eventually even awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor for his work on this song.
...to help create a better image and to help viewers or readers really feel what the speaker feels. Lines one, five, eighteen, and twenty-nine to thirty-one clearly state a type of figurative language. In line one, Hunter Hayes uses hyperbole to over exaggerate the fact that without the person he is addressing this song to, he would emotionally fall apart. In line five, the speaker compares a caring person to factors that keep nature happy. Line five uses indirect characterization to show that this girl Hunter Hayes is addressing , has a good heart, not just a beautiful appearance. Lines twenty- nine to thirty-one use a metaphor to compare fairy tales to their everlasting love for each other. “Wanted” by Hunter Hayes and Troy Verges uses figurative language to address the point to someone special that she will always be loved, wanted, and appreciated.
The music of today has many songs in which there is a hidden meaning or stories behind the song. The song " Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke and Pharrell is a song with a hidden meaning given much to talk about , another song which has a similar meaning with previous song is "You Do Not Even Know It " by Rick Ross. The intent of this paper is to compare song to song through its similar meaning. Both of these songs have a very rough meaning. These songs are inspired in hidden personalities , lies , appearances, violation , drugs , sex, etc. In " Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke and Pharrell it talks about rape and sexual assault and all of these because of the use of alcohol and drugs. In "You Do Not Even Know It " by Rick Ross it also talks about how some people appearencess are not what they really are in
His songs, which might be considered as simple, actually have deeply philosophical meaning to contemplate on. For instance, the song “Our Love” which he performed tells about the power of love over any biases, stereotypes and differences. Like the song “Our Love”, there are many lyrics which reaffirm the belief in life and love, as well as depict the challenges and struggles on the way. That is why everyone can connect to the songs, finding one aspect of life or another which one has experienced, as
The impression created in verse 1 is that of a typical “boy meets girl” theme. This is motivated by the pleasant, happy music and the lyrics indicating a girl meeting a boy. As the song continues, verse 2 indicates that their initial impression was incorrect:
The poem by Helen Ferries expresses what love can bring. In the first stanza Helen use the personification “there’s a wonderful gift that can give you a lift”, giving love human-like characteristics. Meaning that love can make you feel light and happy. She uses the cliché “it’s a blessing from heaven above” to anesthetizes readers instead of alerting them. Helen refer that love is something that is sacred and one should hold on to it and never let it go. To me it also means that God sent the right person that you were made for to you. Ferries compares love to a star because stars most of the time are drawn in a yellowish color. Yellow is the color of the sun which makes the reader believe that love gives you that warmth feeling of everything being okay. In the second stanza she uses a simile, “like a star in the
