Once upon a time, there lived a boy named Ralph. Ralph was in the 5th grade at the most lovely elementary school in the world. Ralph didn’t have a bus to ride, but he didn’t mind because he enjoyed the walk from his house to his school. It was on this walk that he was able to do all of his deep, philosophical thinking. (He happened to be one of the smartest 5th graders at his school and was definitely capable of deep thought.)
On a warm October afternoon, Ralph was making the walk home from his school. His school was only 1 mile away from his house and was the starting point of his magical journey. Ralph left his school walking quite slowly so he could take in the warm sunshine upon his face. He let his mind wander and started to consider the ability for there to be life on another planet. He quickly became lost in his thoughts and soon discovered that he had started to increase his speed into a fast walk. Though he had been lost in thought, he had remembered to turn left at a stop light. Ralph knew he had to continue walking left until reached his house. Not in any rush, Ralph slowed his walk again until he reached his house. When Ralph walked through the front door, his mom asked him if he had gotten the milk. Ralph had been in such deep thought that he had forgotten to stop by the grocery store on his way home from school. He told his mom he would quickly go get it and with that Ralph was gone again.
Ralph knew that the store was left from his house. He walked at a slow pace, again letting his mind drift. This time he thought of nuclear physics and weighed to pros and cons of it becoming his future job. He knew his career decision was quickly approaching, as he only had middle school and high school left until it was crucia...

...d 5.20. Ralph knew his constant speed because on the acceleration graph he was increasing when he was above the x-axis and decreasing when he was below the x-axis. So, when he crosses the x-axis he his moving at a constant speed. Ralph then proceeded to tell her about when he had been at rest.
He had been at rest at the times .52, 1.57, 2.62, and 4.71. Ralph knew he was at rest because on the velocity graph he knew that when he was above the x-axis, he was moving right and when he was below the x-axis he was moving left. So, when he crosses the x-axis he isn’t moving at all. On the function graph this is when x reaches its minimums and maximum. Ralph reported that the total distance he traveled was 11.20551 miles and it only took him 5.91 hours to do it. His mom told him she was very proud of him and he went to bed that night with dreams of Calculus in his head.
