Graham’s claim in her article is that we as a society can no longer be ignorant in our everyday life. She goes on to say that we must focus on the important things that are going on around us in order to be able to protect ourselves from the dangers that can possibly happen. She states, that in order to protect ourselves we must have, “Awareness of one’s surrounding and keeping up with news…” (129). By doing exactly that, we would be able to see the signals that the media is showing us in order to get ready for a disaster that is soon to come. Graham says that the world always gets the people by surprise because we are more focused on our entertainment rather than more important issues that are going on around the world.
To prove her point, Graham begins her article by giving us some background on how the zombies were portrayed in the film and exactly what they symbolized. Graham states that “a zombie, can demonstrate fear about race, nationality, gender, and sexuality...” (124), but
Graham brings up all of the unpredictable scenes to relate them to the terrorist that are in the world today for example she says, “sources of attacks are less foreseeable than in the past” (128) and the reason for that is all of the advances in technology. She also says that the zombies in the film have the ability to change direction without any warning and so do the terrorist because they can have planned out to attack a certain city but if they decide to change their plan they can do so just by changing routes and going to the new destination.
