I’m in love with music because it always seems to make my day go by better. Rap, recitals, jazz and classical concerts top in my music preferred list. My passion for music made me very excited about going the Columbus state musical concert held in the River Center of Performing Arts In the Legacy Room. The theatre is located in a nice location giving the audience a full range of sound and sight. The sounds are incredible and I really loved how I could hear everything. The stage can be seen from any place that one decides to stand on. For this particular concert, the venue was dimly lit. The concert staged was adorned by different musicians, with their amazing performances.. The audience could not help, but dance and sing along with the musicians. During this concert report I will tell you about the three recitals I attended and how they struck me as being some of the best music I’ve ever heard.

The first recital I attended was performed by the lovely Hannah Evans on Saturday October 5th, she was playing the viola. Her performance really struck me as very smooth and elegant, she started her arrangement very soft and mellow which seemed to sooth the crowd. Her performance tone to me was one of a kind, her composer and her play on the instrument itself was amazing. The viola looked very similar to the violin but sounded a tad bit different. While listening to her play I found myself asking what the difference between the two instruments is, and this is what I found. There is no standard size for a viola. The body of a viola is typically between 38cm and 43cm long. A standard violin has a body that is 35.5cm long. However, violin bows are around 1 cm longer than viola bows. As far as sound goes, violas are the second highest pitche...

...unded. Throughout the piece, the flute's only purpose is to produce extensive notes that seem to occur out of the rapid, rough statements of the lute. The other instruments usually even out as the flute note rises, as if in response, so the music constantly undergoes an audible turning over from its frenzy to long-note stillness.
The background of chant two is very empty of character and the sense of silence behind sound is deepened for a moment. It to me seemed to make up for the craziness that took place in chant one, the overall performance was merely okay but the students did a great job.

In closing I would like to state the going to all of these performances really showed me how much time a effort it takes each student to prepare and preform there respected pieces. I really hope that next time I can go to more, and maybe one day have a performance of my own.
