Horace Elgin Dodge and John Dodge created their first truck in 1914, the Dodge Model 30. The Dodge Brothers’ cars’ were ranked at second place for U.S. sales as early as 1916. Dodge cars have come a-long ways in 100 years, along with their advertisements. These advertisements helped create the billion dollar company and without them, Dodge would not have sold the millions of cars and trucks they have already sold. Modern day advertisements are the basics of selling cars; including the “Ground Attack” Dodge Ad and the 2014 Dodge Ad. Although the “Ground Attack” Dodge ad and the 2014 Dodge ad are both good ways of selling a truck, the ground attack dodge ad is better because its design, details, theme, and mood are all superior to the modern Dodge ad.
Throughout the years of truck designing, Dodge’s trucks have greatly improved in appearance and functionality, but unfortunately, their advertisements have not. The “Ground Attack” Dodge Ad shows a tough, athletic truck as the prominent image. This image is important because it grabs the reader’s attention. This tough, muscular image gives the consumer the idea that they can take it out off-roading, when realistically it will end up as the grocery-getter. Just the thought of this off-roading makes the consumer acetous to go out and buy this truck. The new 2104 Dodge ad shows a shiny, calm truck as a way to catch the reader’s eyes. This style of advertising is very successful in selling trucks, but it is the same style of advertising that Dodge used 20 years ago, not matching the improved appearance of the trucks. If Dodge were to change this, it would greatly improve the scheme of selling trucks, using new advanced advertisement, to new advanced trucks. Prominent image depends gre...

...uy their truck. The Ground attack dodge ad has quite the opposite theme. Looking at the background of this advertisement, we can determine that the theme of this ad is powerful and off-roady. This is determined because the background is of a beautiful truck traveling at a high-rated speed, because we see dust; and also surrounded by trees. Themes are very important because they determine the mood of the reader, making the ad successful, or even worse; not successful.
Overall, the theme, prominent image, and background of are the most important things in advertising. Prominent image is used with background to intense the readers to buy the truck. Although the “Ground Attack” Dodge ad and the 2014 Dodge ad are both good ways of selling a truck, the ground attack dodge ad is better because its design, details, theme, and mood are all superior to the modern Dodge ad.
The commercial takes place during the British Revolutionary War, setting the audience back in time, an allusion into the past. It makes the audience feel like we worked hard to get where we are today in this country, and that without the brave soldiers fighting hard against the redcoats, we would be nowhere. The redcoats flee in fear when George Washington and others drive Dodge vehicles straight towards them. Consequently, leaving the audience in awe. Dodge uses George Washington as the main character in their commercial for more more reasons that you can count. For one, they use it because he was the first President of the United States of America, so in fact he is considerably credible. He also embodies true patriotism; a proud general, man, and leader of this amazing country. The commercial depicts that when George Washington drives courageous through the meadows charging towards the redcoats, he has no fear because he has the roar of the Dodge engine to scare them away. In doing this, the audience is able to connect with George Washington’s power and strength to make them feel proud to be an American, driving an American Dodge Vehicle. Throughout the commercial, ironically a calm violin is being played while all the fighting and cars are viciously trudging
Back when the times were different the old ad would have been flawless, but all and all the newer ad is a much better choice. The newer ad had a perfect focal point that caught the viewer’s eye. The plot of the newer ad had superior details that made the ad better than the old one. The general feeling and mood is also an abundant aspect of the newer advertisement. Selection of elements is another aspect that the newer ad has better than the old advertisement. The new advertisement is systematized better than the old advertisement. The audience is the aspect that makes the new advertisement enhanced than the old advertisement. Although the old advertisement has many great aspects, the newer advertisement has a better focal point, action, general feeling and mood, selection of elements, and audience.
Nowadays, commercial is becoming a major part of mass media. It does not only try to inform people about the availability and attractiveness of industrial good productions but also contribute to build an awareness of resources and alternatives for customer in daily life. There are thousands of commercials, so to attract customer, advertisers use various kinds on their commercial to make people aware of the firm's products, services or brands. Though they use various kinds on the commercial, the main goal of advertising tries to convince customer to buy their products, or do what they want. An excellent commercial will create a deep impression on their customers, or who want to become their customers by using three classical appeals: pathos, ethos and logos.
Other commercials, according to Solomon, thrive on fitting in. The Chevrolet commercials have a slogan that makes one feel to be American, one must by American. Chevrolet's slogan is 'The Heartbeat of America.'; Car commercials also have targeted markets also. For a truck commercial, they will show a truck getting all dirty and going through an obstacle. This is targeted towards men because most men find these things appealing. For a luxury car commercial the mood or the commercial is nice and pleasant, the car is on a country road (representing one driving to there country home). These cars were once targeted towards upper class people, but now they are targeted towards everyone according to Solomon. A commercial strives on the ever so enduring drive for Americans to have better things and climb up the social status ladder. Marketers know this, so they place normal, average, everyday looking people in their commercials to let middle class people know that they can have the car, too.
Visual advertisements are straight and to the point for some people. People do not take into account the visual messaging going on throughout the ad. It takes companies a considerable amount of time to create advertisements that are somewhat appealing to the human eye. By adding bright colors and large letters the ad will grab anyone’s attention. In fact, people will be able to see it and read it from a distance better. To show that there are many of small details in a visual advertisement, look at the Old Spice Matterhorn shower gel advertisement.
In the last thirty-eight years, Ford has known how to target the audience they have for the F- series of trucks. After the new advertisement that Ford produced it can be implied that they replicated their success again. With the first commercial being aired on television and online during the 2014 college football playoffs, Ford had a marketing strategy. It is apparent in almost all of the advertisements, including this one that Ford produced is to showcase the newest and the best of the best F-Series of trucks and that they aim to get all the hard working American man. The dream of most hard working men is to be well off, to have a family, and to have nice things to show the success they have worked so hard for. Ford tries to compel the consumer that the new 2015 Ford F150 is the truck to buy that shows how hard you work and is reliable and tough enough keep up with the hard working man that you are. In the advertisement for the 2015 Ford F150 it is easily perceived that convincing word choice, the setting, and the overall logistics of the advertisement appeals to the all American hardworking man.
Advertisement is defined as a public notice, a paid announcement which is meant to attract an audience who interprets themselves with the ad. The human mind is so attractive to new things that it makes it harder for these big companies to come up with new idea to catch our attention. It’s a huge cycle that leads us to an uncontrolled opinion and gives the power to decide for us to the advertisement companies. “Peyton Manning-Gatorade Commercial” is a great way to bait young viewers’ attention into not only buying the product of Gatorade but also making them more notable to watch football.
What captures the attention of people when they view an advertisement, commercial or poster? Is it the colors, a captivating phrase or the people pictured? While these are some of the elements often employed in advertising, we can look deeper and analyze the types of appeals that are utilized to draw attention to certain advertisements. The persuasive methods used can be classified into three modes. These modes are pathos, logos, and ethos. Pathos makes an appeal to emotions, logos appeals to logic or reason and ethos makes an appeal of character or credibility. Each appeal can give support to the message that is being promoted.
For this paper, I looked at two ads that I found extremely powerful. The first ad has a picture of a woman who cannot be recognized at all, with a picture of what she used to like in the bottom left corner of the ad. The ad states that “not everyone that gets hit by a drunk driver dies.” Thus revealing the woman as a victim of a drunk driver. The second ad that I have selected was a picture of a parking stall for handicapped drivers. The ad has in bold white letters “Every 48 seconds, a drunk driver makes another person eligible to park here.” These ads are both powerful in their own sense, however, the ad with the victim of the drunk driver strikes me much harder than the one with the handicapped parking stall. Although both of these ads use a strong sense of pathos to get you to feel bad for those affected by drunk drivers, the ad with the picture of the victim has a much stronger effect.
One can clearly note that there is no logical persuasion in this advertisement such as limited availability, or being a good price. Rather, the text incorporates emotive language such "make it a memorable performance." Immediately, the viewer of the advertisement will forget about the rational qualities such as price, economical performance, insurance, etc. and instead picture themselves as the owner. This continues as it says "you open the door and the show begins." Again, it is a visual experience of positive emotions that the consumer would feel from owning the vehicle ...
Smiling faces, beautiful women and “American made” were the typical elements in advertisements during this decade. DDB’s first “big idea” behind the campaign was no different; The main goal was to make the Volkswagen more American by shooting Suzy Parker standing next to a Volkswagen. It wasn’t until after visiting the production line and watching the step by step production of the Volkswagen did DDB strike gold with an innovate new “big idea.” What resonated with the American advertising team the most during this visit was the incredible quality control of the German factory, thus they decided on “an honest car promoted with Honesty.”
The front face view allows the viewer to see the problem and or situation at first hand. It is the image that attracts the eye to first. Smoking is a well-discussed topic in the media; due to it kills lot of American’s lives. The way the shadow of the hand hits the background gives the illusion that the cigarette is a gun. The symbolizes that smoking the cigarette is like putting a gun to your mouth. The ad is in black and white, which allows the reader to feel the mood of the ad. The black sets the mood of sadness and death. Black in the art world means death and pain. The white resembles purity as stated in “ How to Read Literature like an English Professor” by Thomas Foster. The purity of you life is leaving when you smoke. These symbols allow you to connect with the ad more.
...el: Originality and Elaboration. Furthermore, it is estimated that target-consumers will clearly resonate with the advertisement in terms of Brand Awareness and Brand Liking stages of the Hierarchy of Effect Model. The creative storytelling that a overprotective father snoop around his daughter 's date achieves comedy purposes. This advertisement thoroughly illustrates the fantastic capability of the Car Finder in Hyundai Genesis and it is advisable that this advertisement wins the USA TODAY 's Super Bowl in 2016. To optimize this advertisement, it is reasonable that the characters reflect the multicultural American society. The actors and actresses in the advertisement are almost exclusively afro-American, with only brief appearance by Caucasian in the amusement park. This minor change will create a more socially inclusive company inclusive company image of Hyundai.
The advert alongside is simple and straight to the point. It contains very few details but extremely large content by the choice of words and graphics. At a glance, one can know, without reading the text, what the advertisement is all about. The advertiser has used a cartoon image as opposed to a real person image in the advertisement. This however does not mean that the advert is meant for kids or people who love cartoons. This step is always taken to reduce detail and avoid viewers over dwelling on unnecessary aspects of the advertisement. The setting is also plain. The background has no more information. The advertiser’s has employed the use of this strategy to ensure that the viewer does not miss-associate the advertisement.
All advertisements have one similar goal, and that is to persuade the reader or consumer to buy their product. According to Michelle Greenwald, contributor on Forbes.com, a successful ad campaign is memorable, resonates with the consumers, stands for values beyond the product, and is intrinsically linked to the brand (meaning the product won’t contribute to another brand). From an analytical standpoint, the 2017 Mercedes Benz E-Class magazine advertisement exceeds most standards for a successful advertisement. Producers for Mercedes Benz advertising know how to effectively layout a page of attention grabbing images and information so that it sticks in the minds of the consumers. They blatantly want to sell this luxury sedan to high budget spenders or those who can afford the brand. It is not deceiving in any way; Mercedes just lists the facts and lays out the information proving why they are the best of the best. All in all, this ad is effective because it captures the attention of the consumer and provides enough sophisticated information for the consumer to be impressed; ultimately invoking more sales for the 2017 Mercedes Benz
