“Remember When”
Alan Jackson, a country music singer, is one of a few superstars who has built his career on traditional country. The Boot Staff states that Alan Jackson is “one of the greatest singers in country music that has written the best songs in the history of the genre”. He has “written more than sixty singles and half of them have reached to #1 on the charts” (The Boot Staff). Most of the songs that Alan Jackson has written during his career are about his personal experiences. The song “Remember When” was written “during a difficult period in his marriage, which was when he and his wife got separated and then reconciled” several months later (The Boot Staff). In the song “Remember When” by Alan Jackson, the lyrics, music video, and history reveal the events in his life with his wife so they will remember as they grow old together.

Throughout the song, Jackson mentions when he first met his wife at a young age, getting married, separating, reconciling, and growing a family. The phrase “Remember When” is used to return to his memories (Lyrics007). He describes that when they got married, there had to learn to work through the good and bad times in their relationship. In stanza 4, Jackson states “the sound of little feet”, this was when they broke up and reconciled months later because their kids had such an impact on them that they did not want to get a divorce (Lyrics007). When he says that “when thirty seemed old”, since they got married at such a young age, they thought that thirty was old and looking back to now they are old (Lyrics007). Towards the end of the song, they vow to stay together forever through old age no matter the circumstances. He describes that when their children move away, Jackson and his wife will think back on their memories as they spend their life together
In “The Rememberer”, I immersed myself in the story because I got curious about the topic of reverse evolution. Moreover, the main message of the story caught my attention, and I think that the theme shows Jackson’s concept of longing for an absolute meaning. “We're all getting too smart. Our brains are just getting bigger and bigger, and the world dries up and dies when there's too much thought and not enough heart” (Bender).
Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of America who had a very unique time in office. Jackson advertised as being for the people of the United States but then his actions proved otherwise at later times. While Jackson did things for the people, he was as much of an autocrat as he was a democrat based upon the documents that were formed during his time in office.
Andrew Jackson was a man that people see that he is a good person and others say he is a terrible person. Andrew Jackson can be bad person and a good person it depends what type of person is Andrew Jackson is he going to help out the world or is he going to mess up the world? Democracy is a form of government were the people have a right to assist in the law making process. If Jackson didn’t support the people and wasn’t in the government the bank and the people would be in a huge mess. Andrew Jackson was very democratic and there are political , economic and geographic ways to prove it.
Three specific ways in which American expansion shaped the Jacksonian period was through the advancement of technology, by way of slavery, and the Indian Removal Act. Jackson used any political and economic means necessary in order to see American frontier regions expand across the nation. Jackson’s Indian Removal policy had some of the most important consequences and paved the way toward American expansion. In the beginning of the Jacksonian era, colonial Americans’ settlements had not yet extended far beyond the Atlantic seaboard, partly because bad roads and primitive technology limited their ability to expand, and because both hostile Indians and British imperial policy discouraged migration beyond Appalachian Mountains. However, all of this changed after Jackson was in office and American expansion was well underway.
The late singer Michael Jackson, also known as the King of Pop, was an icon beyond imaginable expectations and vision. He catapulted into fame as a child music star with his brothers before becoming the most famous Jackson sibling to move on to have a solo career. Michael Jackson is undisputedly one of the most successful entertainers in all of music history. Not only did he single-handedly transform the face of pop music, he also- made a huge impact in the world of dance with signature moves like the Moon Walk. Jackson, a man of many talents, had thirteen number one singles, won seventeen Grammy Awards, and sold over one billion albums across the globe since he released his first solo
Andrew Jackson, who characterized the Jacksonian Era, was known widely as a “common man.” He resembled the people who were the majority of nation, which explains why he was admired by them. He also believed in benefiting the whole nation, and not one specific group of people. After the War of 1812, he was known as a hero and later developed his political career. He was determined to develop the nation, and create social equality, Jackson made changes to the country’s economy and politics. He was the symbol for the Democratic Party. Some changes produced negative outcomes, but Jackson’s alterations supported the lower and unprivileged people of the nation. Andrew Jackson defined the era. Economic and political developments defined by Jackson,
Although the “Age of Jackson” wasn’t a time era, which brought forth a great political, social, or economic freedom and equality to the U.S., it did in fact put our country through a metamorphosis in our political lives of the nation. The start of a new presidency (Jackson’s presidency) was accompanied by huge numbers of Hickoryites (Jacksonian supporters) and official hopefuls. Many of these hopefuls were granted their desire of holding office, which is one of the changes brought into Washington by Andrew Jackson.
The purpose of Andrew Jacksons message to Congress “ On Indian Removal” was to convince Congress that he was saving the Indians, while making the land more available for Americans in Mississippi and Alabama. In contrast, “Samuels Memory” is a personal description of the personal experience of the Indians who were moved to another area from their homes.

When Bo hit the ground his hip popped out of socket and as he rolled over he managed to pop it back in. The doctor that he told this too told him that it was not possible, but it turns out that it was. Bo’s injury has been pinned as one of the worst sports injuries ever. Dislocating a bone from its socket is one of the worse things that you can do before breaking a bone, but putting it back into its socket by yourself is going to be immensely painful. “When I stood and took a step, the pain was like someone stabbed a ice pick into my pelvis.” was what Bo said about the pain he felt after the hip went back into socket and he tried to walk. Jackson had to be helped off the field. It was the last time he ever played professional Football ever.
Happy memories can come from all types of things. In the song “Time of Your Life” the lead vocalist Billie Joel Armstrong is singing about a break up that led to good memories. He talks about how time got away from them. “Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go.” The song is about the good memories they had created together. He says to take the photographs and still frames and hang them up. He’s telling her to take those memories and hang them up and not to forget about them. He tells the person he was with to hang up the memories, he tells them that because he doesn’t want that person to forget about the good memories they had together. He doesn’t want people to forget about the food memories, because those good memories will
Although “Thriller” is beloved as a classic 80’s pop music video, it manages a successful dive into the social and political issues that make zombie flicks so great. Pulling from a history of work on zombies, Michael Jackson packs so much history into such a concise package. Through using the texts of Amy Devitt and Kerry Dirk we are able to uncover Jackson’s experience and social commentary in “Thriller”. He simultaneously writes a hit song, revolutionizes music videos, and still remarks on the societal problems of the early 1980’s. However, the story goes much further than that of a number one hit. “Thriller” owes its success to an important cultural figure that looms as large as
I cried as we locked up the house for the last time. I felt like we had just spackled, primed, and painted over my childhood. I felt as if my identity had been erased, and like the character in the song, I had lost myself. There was no longer any physical evidence that I had ever lived in, much less grew up in, the house.
Good memories-we bury them in the chest of our hearts, locked in so tight, to never be forgotten. Yet, the harder we hold on, the more they seem to slip away. So we document these memories in some way, whether by a photograph, journal entry, or poem. But, the wretched hardships are twisted in with the beautiful moments in life. No one wants to remember the awful memories, but we record them any how. They give us perspective. It’s through life’s trials we grow the most; it’s through living and revisiting our worst moments that we can reflect how wonderful life truly is. Memories about childhood written by nikki Giovanni in “Knoxville, Tennessee” and Li-Young Lee in ”A Hymn to Childhood” are diverse on the their difficult experiences,
Some of my earliest memories of listening to Michael Jackson include his number 1 hit 'Beat It'. I can remember that when I was younger, Michael Jackson’s 'Beat It' was one of his first songs that I ever listened to. Between the driving rock guitar, the soaring vocals, and the overall story that the song delivers, the song has easily become one of my favorite Michael Jackson tracks to this day.
