Reflection #2 1. An organization I am a part of is Temple PRSSA. It is a student-run club with over 100 members. I serve on the Executive Board where I help plan weekly meetings, arrange events for members and a resource for members to use for advise and input. Although it is a small organization, I have noticed several forms of toxicity. According to Peter Frost, author of “Handing Toxic Emotions: New Challenges for Leaders and their Organization,” there are seven causes of toxicity: intention, incompetence, infidelity, insensitivity, intrusion, institutional forces and inevitability. Out of the seven, the one I deal with the most is insensitivity. This involves leaders or people not able to see when people are displaying signals of emotional distress. In Temple PRSSA, I lead a sub-committee with three other people from the Overall, although there are forms of toxicity in Temple PRSSA, the organization is functioning well. We have a record amount of members a part of our organization, members are vocal about the positive experience the organization provides and there are no major issues arising due to the toxicity. Thus, the toxicity is causing is only causes the organization to not be as efficient as it can be. When I dealt with insensitivity organizing my committee meeting, it eventually past. After the meeting, I told my committee meetings how I felt. They told me they will make more of an effort to be helpful. Furthermore, although the president of my organization tends to display intrusion, the needed assignments eventually get finished and does not cause much harm to the organization’s growth. Lastly, the person leaving the Executive Board did not hold a high position and will not be difficult to replace. In all, the toxicity is not that detrimental to the organization. Temple PRSSA can run more efficiently if there was toxicity, but the current situation is manageable. This may be a reason why there are not people activity attempting to handle
Occasionally, management strife and issues will occur because basic human nature instinct calls for disagreements and social interferences. However, it depends on the upper level of management to deal with problems that occur in a timely and effective manner that benefits all parties involved. There are a number of reasons that management discrepancies may occur, with the leading being various attitude problems. If team members feel underappreciated or taken advantage of they will show their disgruntled feelings, and it can cause serious issues if not handled immediately. The second are communication issues, ...
Supervisors such as these promote themselves through visible short-range demonstrations of accomplishments, but are unconcerned with staff development or morale (Reed, 2004, p. 67). Toxic leaders affect the atmosphere of an agency by creating a demotivational environment while attendin...

My sixteen week class in English 111. I was really nervous about this class. Because English has never been my strong point. This class has hard, but fun all at the same time. I learn a lot from this class. Meanwhile, the first day of class you handed a paper with a question on it. “The first thing I want to say to you who are students is that you must not think of being here to receive an education; instead, you will do much better to think of being here to claim one.” Even though putting my all in what I have learned, claiming my education with hard work because using the skills of the meal plan, as we write to different audiences and learning to be a Critically thinker as I start becoming a critically-Literate Citizenship.
In autumn of 2013, Mayo Mental Health Association approached the college to see if the students of GMIT felt there was a need to set up a student branch. For the first meeting a large group of students attended. During this meeting it was agreed upon, by all in attendance, that there was a need for such an association within the college. For the rest of the meeting, we brainstormed what the function and scope of the association should be. It was during this task that we experienced a slight conflict. There was a misunderstanding between some members about the scope of the group. I felt, that since the association consisted of groups of students from Social Care (years 1, 2, and 3) there were groups within the larger group that had formed previously, leading to small conflicts in the beginning stages, though they were quickly resolved.
The effectiveness of an organization is a fluid process. The leadership of an organization is charged to continue the infinite work of surveying the cultural, economic and social terrain surrounding the organization and develop strategies and practices to navigate the anticipated changes. When the leadership fails to make these practices standard procedure for the organization, the demise of the organization is inevitable. Friendship Baptist Church has suffered such a dilemma.

Last Friday, on my first day of clinical, I had the opportunity to serve at Francis House. Normally the organization is open to serve the homeless, but a handful of students and I came on a day they were closed for a work day. We were able to help Francis House paint the inside of the building. We did not get to work with the homeless, however it was really nice to know the people that work there on a regular basis. We see how they put their whole hearts into their work in order to make a difference in the homeless community. It is even more exciting that USF is the first school to be a part of this organization. We were able to learn about what Francis House does and see what difference we will make as nursing students.
As stated by J. Antonakis in “Does leadership need emotional intelligence”, the more sensitive to the emotional states of others leaders are the more difficult it may become for those leaders to ignore those states and act in a way that is needed to rectify the organizational vision[ Does leadership need emotional intelligence? How are conceptions of toxic leadership played out – or not played out in non-profit context?
Although anger is ever so predictable, it is rare for anyone to act upon that anger in any overt way. I think the real danger is that the rage blinds people, making them unable to see what options are available. Rather than taking advantage of benefits, training, placement and career development that might be offered by management, the affected employee declines the help because he or she is just too "frosted" to accept anything from the perceived
How Jesus is viewed to people has varied depending on experiences and rearing on the individual and lessons received. With uplifting support and affirmative direction towards eternal salvation, one seeks further understanding of the Kingdom of God. Stories were used by Jesus to instill a touch of interest to those who followed, which invited many to learn more about the Promised Land. Utopic theme centered parables were taught metaphorically based on cultural significance, religious intent, and the kind of impression left on the first followers of Christ.
I called Cornelia the following day and she asked me out on a date – it was to attend a prayer group that following Friday. It was then when I encountered and started to get involved with a Church ministry named “La Nueva Alianza” (“New Covenant”). I was encouraged to allow the Holy Spirit to be more active in my life. Because of God 's merciful Spirit, I proceeded to develop—through prayer, Scripture reading, and the Sacraments—a closer relationship with the Lord and a stronger appreciation and adherence to the teachings of the Church. Since then, I have had a passionate desire that God’s people come to know Him and love Him more fully. This desire is not only what has driven me to serve His people, but what made me receptive to becoming Director of La Nueva Alianza Ministry
Faith Community Hospital presently faces a variety of issues that are caused by a couple of problems. The first problem is the mission statement that is established at Faith Community Hospital. It is instilled in every member who works at the facility. The staff has gone so far as to include it on the back of everyone's business cards so that anyone who receives a card reads it as well. It is a mission statement that when it was implemented was well intended and supposed to unify everyone at Faith Community Hospital but has caused problems instead. The second problem is the lack of concrete organizational policies or guidelines involving certain practices at the hospital. In some cases, both the misinterpretation of the mission statement and the lack of concrete organizational policies and/or guidelines are the reasons behind certain actions by personnel, which in turn jeopardizes the institution.
