First, an operating system manages both software and hardware. It is the connection between human and computer in that we speak to the computer through the OS. More specifically, the OS (operating system) coordinates all aspects of the computer from the CPU(Central Processing Unit) to memory and storage. As for mobile devices, the OS is slightly less intensive in that it cannot perform the same functions as the computer OS does.

In the case of Samsung Galaxy and the iPhone, the OS are known as “Google Android” and “Apple iOS.” The Android OS phones are highly versatile, meaning they can be customized to a high degree. Part of the reason why is that Android OS is written in a Java, a common programming language. iOS apps uses Objective-C, which is much more obsolete. As for the interface, both have touch interfaces that makes interactions with the phone easy. For instance, both the Samsung Galaxy and the iPhone have swiping, touch, and pinch measures. There is also a bar at the top of both phones that offer information about time, wifi and battery. In terms of apps, most of the popular apps are available on both the App Store and Google Play, so there’s almost no distinction between how apps function on these phones. There are many ongoing debates about which is more aesthetically pleasing, but that’s all up to preference. One of the major differences between Android OS and the iOS is that Android OS has an open source code. Anyone in the world has the ability to change and distribute the Android software for any purpose. On the other hand, the iOS is a closed source code, meaning that only Apple can edit, change and distribute iOS software. This makes the iPhone unique compared to the Samsung Galaxy. Any consumer who prefers iOS for any reason must buy the iPhone. This applies to all of the Apple products as none of the products are compatible with anything
