Persuasive Essay On Police Brutality

As a young child my mother always told me and my younger brother that this life that we were born in is completely unfair. They will judge you off of your skin color before they accept you for your intelligence. Sometimes you will not even get an interview because your name might be a little too ethnic, and if you do get the interview they might not give you the job. As she was talking I was thinking who is “they” so I proceeded to ask. All she did was turn on the television and flipped through the channels. Mostly eighty-five percent of the shows that was on was mainly Caucasian and the blacks in that show was never the lawyers, doctors, stock brokers, not even the manager in the store; rather they were crack heads in the street, security guards, thieves, single moms, or horrible fathers. It started from way back in slavery times. Before we were captured and forced to slavery we were kings and queens. The whites invaded our country took us from our natural habitat forced us on boats with unacceptable conditions, chained us to each other for trips that would last week’s even months. They raped our women they took our queens away from us. They changed our names because they could not pronounce them. They took us from royalty to dirt, from gold to copper. Many of our brothers and sisters have died to the senseless act of police brutality. The streets are not safe for a black kings anymore not even for our queens. Nothing we do is right well nothing we do is right to “them”. We reach for our license and other credentials and we get shot because “they” felt like their life was put in “danger”. When I walk out my house or my little brother simply walks to his bus stop I feel like our life is put in danger.
