Global Warming Global warming is the biggest known secret in world. The severity of such a huge problem has caused complete rejection of the situation. Global warming is the root cause of temperature, snow and rainfall, clouds and radiation, atmospheric circulation, and tropical storm changes. As the years pass, the global warming affects intensify. It needs to be talked about! The situation should be the topic on every news channel, and on the tip of every tongue, because we are literally killing our own planet. Even though there are ways to prevent global warming, we selfishly decide not to, because it is too expensive to clean up our own mess. Additionally, we are just too lazy! Not only are we killing our planet for our future generations, but also we affect and destroy the habitats of the animals who sustain our lives. If the common thought is, we do not want to address the situation now because it is easier, then you do not realize how much money, and the danger it costs us to sustain our dirty habits. At our current path of earth destruction, we will leave our earth an unsustainable wasteland for our future generations; healing and prevention programs must be put into play immediately, or the end of the world, will no longer be a myth. Temperature is the biggest casualty of Global Warming. The changes in temperature are slowly rising making longer summers, and shorter, less cold winters. With warmer temperatures plaguing our doorstep, that we seemed to order at expressed delivery, we have broken more heat records in the last ten years, than if you go back 50 years! Warmer weather brings on load of related issues, “Since 1996, bark beetles have decimated an area roughly the size of Washington State. One reason: Recent w... ... middle of paper ... ... holds. The consequences as the result of the earth warming up cannot be ignored any longer. We need to stop wasting our time debating if climate change is man-made or a natural phenomenon. It is clear to me, and many scientists, that we are slowly killing our planet and all its inhabitants (human and non-human animals). We need to stand united and stand tall in this fight to save the ecosystems. We have become an over populated consumerist society, consuming far more natural resources and energy than the generations before the Industrial Revolution. Thus giving off substantial amounts of greenhouse gases that dramatically change the temperature of our planet. It is well documented in various reports how much the Earth’s temperature is rising and is predicted to rise at a rate of 2°C in the next two to three decades. With two-thirds of the world’s population living within two hundred miles of seacoast, and with most of the world’s economy concentrated in coastal cities, rising sea levels would cause immense devastation. Climate change is happening before our eyes with unpredictable storms and weather patterns, severe droughts, and melting polar caps. It is up to each of us to change our behavior to a more sustainable one, by utilizing renewable energy sources--humankind and the Earth are depending on it (Lovelock

Also, global warming could give us less rain, which means dry land, which means less crops and less food for all of us. From the ancient civilizations, we should learn that the environment and climate is always changing. We think it’s always the same, but it could easily be changing everyday. In time, it could easily be completely different and we could have no idea where we are anymore. America is more vulnerable because of the increase in population growth, urbanization, and the Industrial Revolution (xv).

Global warming and climate change in general is one of those subjects that I hold very close to my heart; not because I go around in my spare time hugging trees and gathering vegans in Toyota Priuses to form a peaceful protest against big oil, but because climate change is a subject that everyone and their mom likes to chime in on without really knowing that much about. If you even mention that term “global warming” in a group of people, even the person who you wouldn’t believe can even form a sentence has an opinion. People must feel like it makes them better than others because they can regurgitate whatever CNN and Fox tells them. I’ve done about two or three papers on climate change and global warming in my highschool career, and even though I was lucky enough to get to not talk about the subject since my freshman year, I guess this is the direction I chose to take for myself. Hopefully by the end of this I’ll convince you that there’s no reason to ever bring it up again and we’ll put the issue aside and worry about the real problems like getting the homeless jobs or deciding if we should just pass Marijuana and tax it until our economy stimulates.

Of all the effects of global warming, the extreme weather that is taking place all over the world is the most obvious one. Global warming will bring more heat waves, drought, fiercer wildfires and stronger hurricanes. “This intensification of weather and climate extremes will be the most visible impact of global warming in our everyday lives” (75 yrs NWF). Due to rising temperatures, places everywhere will be affected as we get more extremely hot summer days and lesser winters. In addition, as these rising temperatures shifts the cycle of rain and increases evaporation, there will be longer and drier droughts which in turn can lower the water supply for life everywhere. Wildfires can turn out to be even more catastrophic due to warmer temperatures and drier areas combined with accumulated levels of fuel loads in the forest which has built up as a result of decades of fire suppression activities. Moreover, stronger hurricanes are also an effect of global warming as sea levels are rising and heavier rains are falling near the coasts. Overall, global warming is bringing climates that are changing real fast.
Our planet has managed to survive and thrive for about 4.54 billion years. In the last 2 million years we have caused enough damage and destruction to make our world “broken” beyond repair. We will not be able to get back the world we once had. The reason behind this is global warming, specifically, the increase of the global temperature due to the burning of fossil fuels and the release of greenhouse gas emissions into our atmosphere. If we do not make the issue of global warming a priority in today`s society, our entire way of life will be at risk. There are many reasons why so many people believe global warming should be a concern. Thoroughly examined points include: scientific predictions, rising temperatures, human causes, drastic climate changes and animal adaptations. Though there are several points arguing how global warming should not be a concern, the reality of the matter is that it needs to be taken into consideration on a global scale before it is too late, as to do nothing would have devastating implications on humankind.
Background and Audience Relevance: There are always conversations about our planet. We see our earths glaciers melting, weather temperature rising, and pollution affecting our resources. But for some reasons we tend to look away. We should be more aware of this potential event and I’m here to inform everyone about what actually is global warming and the effects of it.
One of the most substantial problems in the world today is global warming. This gradual warming of the earth is in occurrence at an extremely slow rate but it is happening. Many scientists believe that as human’s work and release greenhouse gases into the earth’s atmosphere, it can become dangerous for the long lasting life of humans and our environment. “Unless we take immediate action, the impacts of global warming will continue to intensify, grow ever more costly and damaging, and increasingly affect the entire planet - including you, your community, and your family” (“Global Warming Impacts”). Everyone should be knowledgeable about global warming and the dangers that it brings to our planet. This essay will examine
Global warming is one of the most serious issues that the human species face today, yet the majority of the population does not pay attention to it. People are not aware of the dangers and do not care about it much because the main effects will affect the next generation and not themselves. Global warming is happening and it is the reason for changing weather and weather extremes such as earthquakes, floods and wildfires. Global warming is caused by societies lifestyle and these lifestyles destroy the environment and affect the whole world. The use of cars, trains, planes, as well as wasting energy for people’s entertainment has a price; this price is that society is in danger.
