Introduction This paper discusses the design and implementation of an image recognition /retrieval system indexed with parameterized color histogram. As the usage of multimedia data has increased in recent years, effective and efficient methods for storing and retrieving multimedia have been required and are being developed. In particular, images are used as important inputs in a variety of areas. The area of content-based image retrieval is a hybrid research area that requires knowledge of both computer vision and of database systems. Large image databases are collected, and images from these collections made available to users in advertising, marketing, entertainment, and other areas where images can be used to enhance the product. The generally categorized images as animals, natural scenes, people, and so on for access require browsing by a user to select the appropriate images. Image Recognition/Retrieval System Over the previous years, techniques for content-based image retrieval systems are published. The focus of this paper is to design and implement the efficient way of retrieving the images by sample query images. A set of color features has been efficiently used to measure the similarity of given images. However, at the same time the size of the color features is too large to implement an indexing scheme effectively. In other words, the large size of color features need to have large amount of resources and the computer systems require much of the time to operate. It has been, therefore, proposed to retrieve similar images by using interpolated color histogram to save resources and to increase efficiency. The time that was spent at the art museum was approximately two hours and a half. The first impression that one received was that this place was a place of peace and also a place to expand the viewer’s imagination to understand what artists were expressing to the viewers. Critical Evaluation of a Theoretical Approach Used to Describe Pattern/Object Recognition Pattern/object recognition is concerned with the processes involved in the identification of images and objects. This essentially involves taking information that enters the visual system and comparing this with information stored in memory, and finding a match. There are three approaches within pattern recognition; template and prototype theories, feature comparison theories and structural theories. The focus of this essay is feature comparison theories, their advantages and disadvantages and their overall success in pattern/object recognition. Feature comparison models were developed in response to the many problems found with template and prototype theories.

Iris recognition is one of commonly employed biometric for personal recognition. In this paper, Single Value Decomposition (SVD), Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Automatic Feature Extraction (AFE) and Independent Component Analysis (ICA) are employed to extract the iris feature from a pattern named IrisPattern based on the iris image. The IrisPatterns are classified using a Feedforward Backpropagation Neural Network (BPNN) and Support Vector Machines (SVM) with Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel with different dimensions and a comparative study is carried out. From the experimental result, it is observed that ICA is the most appropriate feature extraction method for both BPNN and SVM with Gaussian RBF and SVM with Gaussian RBF can classify faster than BPNN.
