The purpose of this assignment is to evaluate the e-skills provision for the IMB programme, a course that I am currently enrolled on at University College London. When evaluating the e-skills provision for our course I shall discuss factors such as what aspects are effective and what are not, what needs be changed to make things more effective and my personal involvement in a particular activities and if they benefited me in any sense. Since I am now in my third year of the course, I feel like I can comment reflectively and critically on this topic and have a variety of different viewpoints that I shall evaluate, some of which are specific to my personal career plans and some of which where I am attempting to empathise with some of my fellow course members views, which I understand could be different to mine.
I will start by briefly evaluating my reasons behind why I chose the course to be my number one choice in my UCAS application in the first place and later on I shall analyse whether my expectations for the course had been fulfilled or not. Going back to when I was compiling my UCAS application, what appealed to me most about the Information Management for Business (IMB) course was how the course was being developed by e-skills in close collaboration with some of the worlds largest and most successful companies such as ‘British Airways, BT, Computer Associates, Ford, Fujitsu, HP, IBM, Morgan Stanley, Aviva, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Procter & Gamble, Capgemini, Accenture and Unilever’. This fact made me optimistic in my outlook of finding a desirable job upon graduating, since I thought I could ultimately end up working at one of those companies in the future. In addition to this, the fact that the course had the focus of deve...

...sly, as a result of the scarcity of technology students in the UK, one of the positives that I could benefit from is is the high employment rate upon graduation, which is one of the biggest advantages of the course. This is particularly significant in an environment where large proportions of graduates appear to be struggling to find a good, well-paid job, which includes those on good courses from reputable universities. In addition to the high probability of getting a job in the first place, it is also likely that it could be with one of the biggest companies in the world, such as those I listed previously and consequently, working for a large, successful company brings a proportionately high salary with it. I have no regrets over my decision to select the IMB course and I am thoroughly grateful for the insight and support that e-skills have provided over the years.
One thing that I found interesting about my assessment is the fact that under My Interests, "Application of Technology" was 3rd highest on my list. I believe that technology has its perks, but I often find that it can be a hindrance or a crutch or just simply a pain to use. Not to mention, during the IST class last semester, whenever we had to familiarize ourselves with a computer system, I tended to dread those assignments. However, with the everchanging world of business, I know that the use of technology will continue to expand. No matter how I feel about technology, I am aware that I will most likely need to familiarize myself with various computer systems to efficiently complete my job. After taking this assessment, I am reassured by the thought that maybe I have a natural interest in technology, an interest that could help me in the future.

Furthermore, the University itself seemed top-notch, the Library itself being absolutely massive. Along with the facilities in the varying Colleges appearing to be among the best, I simply came to believe that the atmosphere, and the tools available to me were reason enough to firm my offer. The positive impression it left upon myself, led to the firming of the offer on my ride back to St. Pancras. The degree should prepare myself greatly for life after graduation, given the circumstances behind the degree. Firstly, the Year in Industry will give me an idea of what it’s like to work in a professional environment, doing what I love.
In the context of resource development and delivery at the Careers Australia Group, a private RTO, it can be seen that resources can by fairly disseminated to the different delivery modalities by ensuring ethical practices are adhered to. There is one set of resources developed for all delivery modes, it then falls to the instructional designers and trainers to ensure that the delivery of these materials meets the needs of the students and is delivered with the differentiation in student capacities in mind. Students have inherently different abilities when it comes to learning (Flemming & Mills, 1992) and dependent on the mode of delivery can be enhanced on the students capacities defined through their dominant learning modality. A student who does well in an online environment, may not do well in a face-to-face learning environment, this may be due to the learning modality of the student. Therefore it can be argued that a student who excels in this environment, would benefit from being deprived of an auditory instruction that on-campus students would receive (Bates & Bates, 2005; Hawthorne, Prout, Kinnersley, & Houston, 2009) The results of delivery modality in the equal distribution of learning content, delivering the eBook that distance students would read, as a lecture, has proven to be highly successful and
Research from an academic journal states that 40 per cent of the workforce should be qualified to level four, which is the equivalent to the first year of higher education by 2020. Therefore, with businesses offering an apprenticeship scheme focusing on a specific trade, it can create loyal employees and train apprentices to be fit to their specific company. Furthermore, "on the job" training was identified as a vital source of skills development and career progression. Lee, Dionne. Higher Education, Skills and Work - Based Learning; Bingley Vol. 2, Iss. 3, (2012): 225-239.

My interest in Information Systems Management was drawn when I was working on my final year project at Maharashtra Institute of Technology under the able guidance of the head of the Computer Engineering department. Professor R. K. Bedi’s support provided a much needed boost to my confidence in my programming skills. This new found confidence, in conjunction with the organization management skills I had acquired through active participation in extracurricular activities like “Tesla”, in inter college programming fest, made me realize I wanted to pursue a program that had comprised a blend of both the computer science and management disciplines.
The rapid development of information systems and technology brings some positive effects to individuals. For my under graduate studies, I opted for “Information Technology” in SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce. During the course of the study I understood the fundamentals of IT through the Programming language and database courses. After my undergraduate education, the strong desire to understand the global business management process and the requirements of the industry propelled me to pursue a Post Graduate Diploma in Management specializing in “International Business” from Pillai’s Institute of Management and Research. I was endowed with subjects like Supply chain Management and Customer Relationship management, Shipping and Logistics Management, International trade operations and MIS for Global Organisations. At the end of first year, an overseas study tour to China provided an international perspective on business by exposure to the different factors business has to address in their particular environment. The study tour gave us a ch...

With the advent of modern technology, a forceful impact of this technology has been observed in nearly all walks of modern day life. With the increasing access to these facilities, the lives of modern-day human beings have changed so dramatically that in many cases a reversal towards the old ways of life seems apparently impossible. Similar is the case with the process of education. In general the concept of e-learning has modified learning modes and behaviors to a much greater extent. It has...
