The reason I choose Maya Angelou is because she is a very inspirational person Maya Angelou describes minimal parts of her life in her poetry . Marguerite Annie Johnson Angelou was born April 4, 1928 to May 28, 2014 most people known her as Maya Angelou she was an American author, actress, screenwriter, dancer, poet and civil rights activist best known for her memoir , I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which made literary history as the first nonfiction best-seller by an African-American woman. Angelou received several honors throughout her career, including two NAACP Image Awards in the outstanding literary work. Because of her experiences, she has learned a lot and this knowledge can be reflected in her written work. Her work reflects her life and how she wants everyone to be treated equally. Maya Angelou is the author of many poems dealing with deep themes that leave the reader to really think about the subject that is being presented. One of these themes deals with equality for everyone. Maya Angelou wrote many poems with equality themes because she lived in the same time period a, and worked with great civil rights leaders.
