Something that is really famous especially in the United States are the Reality Music Competitions. This essay is about The X Factor, The American Idol, and The Voice.
The X Factor USA was created by Simon Cowell. The show consists of four main stages. It all starts with the auditions. Any person or band can audition, and if at least half of the judges say yes, then the person goes to next stage, but if they say no, the contestant goes home. The next stage is the bootcamp. There, they compete against other contestants. On the bootcamp, the judges separate the contestants into groups (kids and teenagers, bands, age 16-24, and 25 above). The next stage is the “judge’s house”. There, the judges invite one celebrity to help them decide who is going to the next stage after watching a performance in their houses. The last stage are the live shows. After the contestants had shown that they really know how to sing, they go to a stage where they have to perform to a live audition. In that stage, they eliminate some people in each episode until it has only three contestants. On the final episode, they say who gets third place, and finally the two finalists compete against each other, and the winner gets a prize. Until the year 2014, the prize was a US$5 million recording contract, but now, the prize changed, and the winner receives US$5 million cash, and financial support to help him/her manage his/her money over five years. Some examples of people or groups who went to The X Factor and got famous are One Direction who went to the X Factor UK, just like Little Mix, Cher Lloyd, Emblem3, who now are on tour with their new album Nothing to Lose, Fifth Harmony, and more.
Another reality competition that is also famous is the American Idol. A...

Reality television shows dominate many television networks today. There are reality television shows enjoyed by virtually every age-group. However, many people are unaware of the truth behind reality television shows. They are unaware of the planning and prearranged situations that occur in most "reality" shows. Reality television shows pose some important detriments for society, which include presenting contrived situations as reality, promoting unethical values, and presenting humiliation as a form of entertainment.

The Amazing Race is a reality TV show where teams of two race across the world in competition with other teams in a quest for one million dollars. The Amazing Race was created by Elise Doganieri and Bertram van Munster and has aired in the United States since 2001. The Amazing Race displays how ordinary people act when they are thrown into competition. Also, this particular program illustrates challenges these competitors will endure in order to make a million dollars. It’s interesting to think about how different our society could be if Americans would work this hard with their minds and energy towards a job in America.
My eyes dart around the room spotting celebrities, professional athletes, CEOs, and other overqualified applicants, and previous winners, but my envious search ends as the host passes on the microphone to last year's winner.
Dr. Pitton’s Comments: This student was asked in this essay to write about the causes of a modern phenomena. In active prose, she did an excellent job both of detailing the popularity of music television in today's society and offering a variety of creative and innovative reasons for this effect.

To fully discuss these topics, it is best to define what a celebrity and a psuedo-event is. The term ‘celebrity’ is often linked to ‘fame’, ‘stardom’, and ‘renown’. Development of mass media, during the twentieth century, including newpapers, radio, television, and now the Internet, gave rise to celebrity culture in the Western world. Media and publicity industries facilitate a growth of the ways the audience can consume celebrities after the creation, circulation, and promotion in the media (Drake and Miah).
