According to EIA, “Renewable energy accounted for approximately ten percent of total U.S. consumption and thirteen percent of electricity generation in the year 2014.” These alternative energy sources include factors such as wind power, solar power, hydro power, geothermal power, and biomass. These alternative resources provide the Earth with power that is unlimited to the people, and after maintenance as well as building, is basically free. These alternative sources are cleaner for the earth, more cost effective for our economies, and they are not able to be depleted for they are non-renewable sources.
We have all taken long car rides to our grandparent’s house or to visit a college campus many miles away, and throughout these rides a glass window is all that separates us from the vast majority of alternative energy sources that can shape the future. Passing windmills and solar panels are just a glimpse of these alternative sources. They surround us wherever we may go and most importantly they are renewable. The sun that heats our earth brings about solar energy that can be captured through solar panels, the wind that is supplied from the ocean currents as well as gravity provides power through windmills, as well as the heat from the ground brings about geothermal energy. Alternative resources are easy to find, it is just finding our way towards them which is the issue. We are all too hooked on our past of non-renewable resources, and we allow them to run our world.
Through the use of alternative resources the earth is cleansed due to less pollution as well as less harmful molecular radiation. In the year 2013, 36.3 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide were released into the earth either in the atmosphere, into the trees, or...

...d these resources that we rely on so much release molecules as well as pollute our environment. The big one being Carbon Dioxide which leads to the world wide topic of Global Warming, and our waters as well as our air are polluted from things such as oils spills or plants that release toxic chemicals into our environment.
The use of alternative energy sources are much safer and more efficient than the non-renewable energy sources that are now in use. It reduces the harmful effects of pollution and wear on the environment while supplying the never ending supply of renewable energy. Just switching to the power that the world around us supplies infinitely will cause a cleaner world with cleaner energy. However, opening the eyes of others is what it will take to move the world from that which relies on non-reliable energy to that which relies on a never-ending energy.

Renewable Alternative Energy Sources Essay

- The world needs to start making alternative energy sources more of a priority for a number of reasons. “Alternative energy refers to energy sources that have no undesired consequences such for example fossil fuels or nuclear energy” (“Alternative Energy”). Alternative energy sources collectively only provide about seven percent of the total world energy supply (McLamb). Even though fossil fuels are cheap and plentiful, can help a country’s economy, and can be extracted relatively easily, they have many disastrous effects (“Activity 3 – Fossil Fuels – The pros and cons”)....   [tags: effects, substances, fossil, fuels, nuclear]

Can Solar Energy Save the World? Essay

- ... The use of solar energy can also save the depleting fossil fuels and can be sustained for future generations. Also it would take only around 0.3% of the world's land area to supply all of our electricity needs via solar power. Apart from all this solar energy is a renewable form of energy unlike fossil fuels, provides several job opportunities and boost the economy and lastly it’s free and can increase the value of your property. Solar energy reduces the emission of greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, and also reduce the dependence on the fossil fuels....   [tags: renewable, alternative sources of energy]

The Future of Wave Power Essay

- The Future of Wave Power With approximately eighty percent of our energy, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, still being manufactured from fossil fuels that release pollutants to the air such as greenhouse gasses that include carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and methane, it is not a bad idea to consider some alternative energy options like wave power. What is wave power. It is the harnessing of power of the ocean’s waves by using the momentum of the waves to power a turbine. There are several models that are effective for it’s respective region....   [tags: renewable and alternative energy sources]

Development of Solar Power Essay

- ... Considering all the facts stated above, the question in our mind should be: if this energy source is as good as it is said, why is it not used worldwide. The answer to this question is as simple as the following: the acquisition of this technology is too pricey. Thus, people often do not have enough money to afford the installation of solar panels. Therefore, to popularize and make the use of solar power easier for all, this technology should be developed in order to make it less expensive. It is what the professor Nathan S....   [tags: alternative and renewable sources of energy]

Earth and Natural Gas Essay

- The world currently faces a major problem. This problem is the need for alternative energy sources which can be converted into electricity because the main energy source currently used is coal and the coal deposits will not last forever. The main alternative energy sources that many countries are currently researching are wind, solar, hydro and nuclear. But there is another source of energy that is heavily debated to see whether the pros outweigh the cons. This energy source is natural gas. The main reason for the heavy debate is not the energy source but rather the mining of the energy source through the process of hydraulic fracturing....   [tags: Alternative Energy Sources, Non Renewable Energy]

Essay about Renewable Energy Sources

- A flick of a light switch and the spark of an engine are everyday activities that we take for granted. What if the world ran out of the resources used to make these activities possible. What if heating your house was not a simple task that could be done by pressing a button. This could be the case if we continue to use nonrenewable energy resources. The article, Energy Resources states that the use of these resources "is increasing at an unprecedented rate due to the rapid industrialization of a number of formerly third world countries." At this rate, the oil sand and oil shales will undoubtedly be cleared out in the future, along with the coal mines....   [tags: Alternative Energy Sources]

Renewable Sources Of Renewable Energy Essay

- The world has been relying on using conventional sources of energy such as fossil fuels and nuclear energy for decades. These resources are non-renewable. That means once they are used up they’re gone for good. However, newer technology has allowed us to use renewable sources such as the sun or wind. These sources for practical purposes will last forever. People should use renewable energy because they are sustainable and environmentally friendly. However, there are high economic costs associated to switching to renewable energy and renewable sources are not as reliable as conventional fossil fuels....   [tags: Wind power, Fossil fuel, Alternative energy]

- Imagine a world where nobody can use their iPhone, their computer, or even turn on the lights. That is the kind of world the future may be like if there is not an overhaul of how electricity is obtained. Ever since the Industrial Revolution, people have utilized fossil fuels to power their homes, cars, and businesses. Unfortunately, our stores of fossil fuels are running low, and they have been demonstrated to increase the temperature in the atmosphere and accelerate global warming. As gas prices steadily rise, people need a newer, cleaner source of energy....   [tags: fossil fuel, renewable sources, oil]
