- Characters: The main character is developed by what type of book the author is writing. My main character Sugar Mae Cole was developed because of the way she acts toward different characters in the book. And by her personality and sugars personality is sweet kinda like her name and she is polite. She is always trying to brighten the other characters up especially her mom Reba. She has a different personality that any of the other characters and connects with them in a different way that is what makes her the main character. she is cautious and also believes in people and things like her mom. Her mom Reba is about to give up but Sugar still believes in her and she believes she and her Mom will get a home and things will change. The Point of view also goes along with developing a main character, The author wrote the book as if Sugar wrote the book.

-Idea: The main idea Is developed by how the flow of the book goes. Sugar’s father dies and thats gets the main idea going, Sugars gambling father ( Mr. Leeland loses and owes a lot of money and then they lose their home and thats begins the main idea: homelessness. The main idea is that they ( Sugar and Reba lose their house and then they have to survive and Sugar has to live away from Reba ( her mother ). “ King Cole was on chapter ten of his biography when he died.” That the first thing that gets the main idea flowing. “ My grandpa died” “ Trusting Mr. Leeland to pay back money was like trusting your dog to watch your food” Mr. Leeland never gave money back and lost it a lot so they didn’t have a lot of money to pay for their house.

Point of view: The point of view in the book Almost Home is first person because the author uses words like I or me. ...

... middle of paper ...

...ht, and meaningful.

3. Homeless “ I felt like I had a sign plastered on my head : homeless girl.” This is very important because at one point of the book they become homeless and thats a big part of the book and without it the book wouldn’t have a main point anymore. The Dictionary meaning: (of a person) without a home, and therefore typically living on the streets Its important because Sugar loses her home and is without a home and that kind of backfires the rest of the story. I think of sad, dirty and lonely when I think of the word homeless

- Why did the author do this? :The author did all this to make the book sound better and make people want to read it and it needs a main character who connects with everyone and the main idea. And the main idea gives the book its main point and it goes in events to make it flow. and it had meaning so it sounds good.
