African American Discrimination in the United States
NO! NO? This is the word most often heard by African Americans throughout our vivid history. Although at one time we were a majority of judgment and unfair discrimination, it is now more than likely safe to say, white or black, we are proud to be Americans. In Harper Lee’s novel To Kill A Mockingbird she elucidates what it was like, during the 1930s, to live in a small town who often put judgment before thought.
When thinking of discrimination the words unfair, segregation, and prejudice all come to mind. And why we ask ourselves, because someone or something is DIFFERENT. Is that really how our world should think? Should we separate ourselves into groups depending on our differences? This is a question that many white Americans neglect to ask themselves.
According to statistics, African Americans make up approximately thirteen percent of the world’s population, with nearly ten million of them in poverty. A large part of black discrimination is due to white racism. Black is automatically seen as opposite of white and therefore seen as different. It is known that black skin stands out more than tan or white skin, which may be the reason why African Americans are the most segregated minority group in the U.S. society (faculty).
Black Americans first received freedom from slavery in 1865, and the right to vote in 1870, when the 15th Amendment was established. Why then were they still discriminated against and not truly given the right to vote until 1964, when the Civil Rights Act was passed. To this there may not be an answer (Lieda).
In 1964 the Civil Rights Act was passed stating that: “All persons should be entitled to the full and equal enjoym...

...vantage of a young white woman when posed with the opportunity (Lee). This can be very misleading and inaccurate when it comes down to the innocence of a black man. That is in no way civil to all men if that is the way our justice system works in the U.S. today. When compared to how the way things were in the 1930s, it can easily be seen that our society has come a long way and such assumptions are not usually made.
When one looks back through the piles of history our country has made it is easily visible that the world today is much different than it was years ago. Many obstacles have been thrown our way but it seems that each one of them was overcome with the strength and hope many of our people have. Remember different does not necessarily mean wrong. We as a whole have fought a long hard battle to bring us where we stand today, a nation united as one.
...dom and right to vote established by the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments, blacks were still oppressed by strong black codes and Jim Crow laws. The federal government created strong legislation for blacks to be helped and educated, but it was ineffective due to strong opposition. Although blacks cried out to agencies, such as the Freemen's Bureau, declaring that they were "in a more unpleasant condition than our former" (Document E), their cries were often overshadowed by violence.

The freed slaves continued to practice few voting rights until 1890, but they were soon stripped of all political, social and economic powers. Not until the civil rights movement in the 1950’s and 1960’s were the freedoms that were fought for by our Republican forefathers nearly 100 years before, finally seen through to

Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart, or as we know him as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who was he? Well he was a composer and pianist. Mozart was inspiring, his father taught him how to play the keyboard but he excelled past his father’s teachings. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was also a child prodigy as people called him. He excelled past his father’s teachings yet his father was a successful violinist, composer, and assistant concertmaster. He was also compassionate, he did two weeks worth of music lessons for Beethoven. Mozart was exceptionally perseverant, while sick in bed all he wanted to do was finish Requiem. Also, he was very passionate, he believed what he wanted to believe.
Former Texas governor Rick Perry recommended his fellow Republicans to attract black votes. Rick Perry, who declared his presidential bid in the beginning of June, urged Republicans to lead the party to the path of Lincoln. He said, "When we gave up on trying to win the support of African-Americans, we lost our moral legitimacy as the party of Lincoln." He advised GOP to reclaim their legacy as the only American Party to voice for the rights of Afro-Americans.
As you can see, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is one of the greatest composers of all time, mastering every musical format he attempted. Mozart worked hard at a very young age to become the composer he became. Moving to Vienna was one of the best moves Mozart made for his professional career. Even though Mozart’s life and career had many highs and lows, his legacy teach us to pursue
The Association of Black Psychologist (ABP) (2013) defines colorism as skin-color stratification. Colorism is described as “internalized racism” that is perceived to be a way of life for the group that it is accepted by (ABP 2013). Moreover, colorism is classified as a persistent problem within Black American. Colorism in the process of discriminatory privileges given to lighter-skinned individuals of color over their darker- skinned counterparts (Margret Hunter 2007). From a historical standpoint, colorism was a white constructed policy in order to create dissention among their slaves as to maintain order or obedience. Over the centuries, it seems that the original purpose of colorism remains. Why has this issue persisted? Blacks have been able to dismantle the barriers faced within the larger society of the United States. Yet, Blacks have failed to properly address the sins of the past within the ethnic group. As a consequence of this failure, colorism prevails. Through my research, I developed many questions: Is it right that this view remain? How does valuing an individual over another cause distribution to the mental health of the victims of colorism? More importantly, what are the solutions for colorism? Colorism, unfortunately, has had a persisted effect on the lives of Black Americans. It has become so internalized that one cannot differentiate between the view of ourselves that Black Americans adopted from slavery or a more personalized view developed from within the ethnicity. The consequences of this internalized view heightens the already exorbitant mental health concerns within the Black community, but the most unfortunate aspect of colorism is that there is contention on how the issue should be solved.
One of the world's greatest musicians, Mozart was born January 27th, 1756 in Getreidegrasse, Austria to Leopold and Anna Maria Mozart. Born into a family of musicians, Mozart was able to sharpen and expand his talents beyond a single genre. He and his older sister were known as child prodigies. Mozart was actually successful at almost every genre in his time (Wallace 12). He excelled in creating symphonies, operas, chamber music, serenades, sonatas, and string quartets. Mozart is known as one of the most prolific composers, sometimes completing whole pieces in less than week. Having created well over 600 different and unique pieces of music, he is known as one of the most celebrated musicians in history. Listening to many of his works, its clear that he was part of the classical era. His work has recognizable melodies, clear and definite beginnings and endings, and is very clean and cut like most classical pieces ("Music History 102").
Throughout history Black Americans have been making strived and attempts to be accepted and forced to assimilate and acculturate into White society. into a works where often the culture is not welcomed. Seeking to understand ones’ own culture and identity can be a daunting process. However, when the culture is as complicated as the Black culture it can magnify the existence of a skewed and unwelcoming society based on race, oppression, and culture. It is common to come across minorities that feel their perceptions about racism and culture are often disregarded, and ignored by the majority group members (Sue & Sue, 2016).
In a 2012 study of treatment for fungal ear infections, all of the patients were treated with clotrimazole (Viswanatha, Sumatha, & Siddappa, 2012). However, four patients did not respond to this treatment and fluconazole solution was found successful in these patients (Viswanatha, Sumatha, & Siddappa, 2012). Fluconazole otic solution 2 drops daily x 3 days then every other day x 3 weeks (Viswanatha, Sumatha, & Siddappa, 2012). It is important to avoid ear plugs or cotton balls to allow ears to be open to air and drain properly (Aspergillus, 2015). It is important to keep the ear canal as dry as possible (Aspergillus, 2015). For preventative measures, 4% boric acid solution in alcohol can be used as a cleaning agent (Aspergillus, 2015). Ear wash bilateral ears was performed in office to open the ear canal that was blocked by cerumen. Recommended treatment is suction for evacuation of matter in ear, but no equipment for that in this office available (Aspergillus, 2015). Also, Otitis media should be treated. This patient has been struggling with ear pain and odorous drainage now for longer than the watchful waiting period (Thomas et al., 2014). Therefore, a PCN is recommended like amoxicillin (Thomas et al., 2014). He reports that last time the amoxicillin alone did not eradicate the infection the
Diversity, we define today as one of our nation’s most dynamic characteristics in American history. The United States thrives through the means of diversity. However, diversity has not always been a positive component in America. In fact, it took many years for our nation to become accustomed to this broad variety of mixed cultures and social groups. One of the leading groups that were most commonly affected by this, were African American citizens, who were victimized because of their color and race.
