Imperialism is a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force. Imperialism occurs when a strong nation takes over a weaker nation or region and dominates its economic, political, and cultural life. During the Industrial Revolution, world powers that were mainly in Europe dominated many countries, including the Scramble for Africa. The Scramble of Africa was during the 1800s when European nations created colonial boundaries in Africa. The Scramble of Africa situation caused many problems because tribes of grouping tribes under one leader, the "white man's burden", and dependent economies. These issues led to a history mass genocides, revolutions, war violence, and political conflicts. We as world powers are the cause of these issues because of imperialism, and it is our right to now solve the problems.
In 2011 a political outbreak caused an armed conflict in the North African country of Libya because of the oppressive leader, Muammar Gaddafi. Fiery protests and rebellion collided with the national security, contributing to what is called the Libyan Civil War. The result led to civil war violence and destruction, 25000 casualities, and the the overthrow of government. Although the latter sounds like a victory to Libya, there are still disputes present day because of power vacuums.
A power vacuum is an analogy between a physical vacuum, to the political condition "when someone has lost control of something and no one has replaced them. The situation can occur when a government has no identifiable central power or authority, and Libya is not the only nation suffering from a power vaccuum. Imperialism is the practice by which powerful nations or peoples seek to extend and maintain control or influence over weaker nations or peoples. By the 1800’s, the Western powers had advantages in this process. They led the world in technological advances, giving them a dominance when conquering other countries. The European Imperialists made attempts to conquer China and Japan. In this process, they succeeded by influencing Japan greatly. However, they were not as successful with China.

Imperialism is the domination of a weaker country by a stronger country. For instance Britain dominated India and China in the mid 1880s to the beginning of the 20th century. Imperialism has had both a positive and negative effects on the countries involved. Britain was imperialistic for many reasons, it could dominate because it had the technology and power to do so. They also needed land to acquire raw materials for growing markets.

Imperialism is when a mother nation takes over another nation and become its colony for political, social, and economical reasons. Imperialism is a progressive force for both the oppressors (mother country) and the oppressed (colony), majorly occurring during the late 19th and early 20th century. It had more negative effects than positive effects due to its domination to other nations.
Imperialism took place in the late 1800’s through the early 1900’s and it defines one country’s superiority over another. Specifically, The United States practiced imperialism for the desire to strengthen military and create new markets for money. It led to many wars and disputes over countries, heavily in Latin America. Imperialism was not a proper and legitimate policy for the United States to follow.

Imperialism is the domination by one country of political, economic, or cultural life of another country or region and occurred during the 1800’s in Africa. Imperialism in Africa was caused by four factors in Europe: economy, politics/military, humanitarian/religion, and Social Darwinism (Ellis). The Industrial Revolution in Europe caused the need for oversea expansion because the manufacturers needed things like: rubber, petroleum, and palm oil all of which Africa had. Europe moving into Africa was also caused by nationalism, when France went into Africa so did Britain (Ellis). The difference between France and Britain was the way of rule they used. There are four different methods of imperialism: direct, indirect, protectorate, and sphere of influence. The most popular were direct and indirect. The French used direct, they sent officials and soldiers from France to administer their colonies and their purpose was to inflict French culture on their colonies and make them into French provinces (Ellis). The British, however, used indirect, they used chiefs to oversee their colonies and encouraged the children in the colonies to get education in Britain. The British “Westernized” their colonies and only used military force when threatened (Ellis).
Imperialism is the policy or action by which one country controls another country or territory. Most such control is achieved by military means to gain economic and political advantages. Such a policy is also called expansionism. An expansionist state that obtains overseas territories follows a policy usually called colonialism. An imperialist government may wish to gain new markets for its exports, plus sources of inexpensive labor and raw materials. A far-flung empire may satisfy a nation's desire for military advantage or recognition as a world power.
The Republic of Chad is a landlocked country in Central Africa, bordered by Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, Niger to the west Cameroon and Nigeria to the Southwest and Libya to the north. In terms of geography, Chad is divided into multiple regions: a desert like zone in the north, an arid Sahelian belt in the center and fertile Savanna zone in the South. Under the leadership of François Tombalbaye, Chad obtained independence in 1960. However, because the country is composed of more than 200 different ethnic and linguistic groups, the more Muslim north resented Tombalbaye policies and took over. After multiple internal conflicts in between the rebels themselves, Idriss Deby, the current president has been leading the country to more prosperous times. However, while major oil reserves and cotton plantations have created new revenue, Chad is still one of the poorest and most corrupt nations in the world. And to add to Chad’s own problems, South Sudan’s current conflicts with Sudan and its own ethnic groups who accuse the government of border lining them has spilled into the surrounding regions. Chad has been swarmed with hundreds of thousands of refugees and the conflicts pose a great threat to the stable political system in our country. We’ve already observed many of the surrounding states see revolts and uprisings from the different ethnicities not only against their respective governments but also inter-ethnically.
We are now a decade on from the August 2003 Accra Peace agreement which drew a line under 14 years of civil war and the oppressive dictatorship of Charles Taylor. The peace agreement bought a renewed chance of peace and stability after the atrocities that had been committed across the country. Imperialism was a time period in which more developed nations colonized less developed nations. The developed nations took advantage of the less developed nations resources, people, lands, and much more. Many countries lost their freedom and independence due to imperialism, however, they also received new technologies and innovations.
Throughout history, imperialism has led countries to extend their rule over weaker countries and then colonized those countries to expand their own power. Imperialism allows the ruling countries to use the weaker countries for their resources. Colonizing other countries would then lead to growth and a better reputation for the dominating country. There are many examples of imperialism throughout European history. When many European countries “scrambled” for Africa, it seemed as though Africa had no say in anything.
Over a period from 1960-1965, the first Republic of the Congo experienced a period of serious crisis. There was a terrible war for power that displayed senseless violence and the desperation to rule. There were many internal conflicts among the people. The country eventually gained independence from Belgium. For many countries this would be a time for celebration. Unfortunately for the people of the Congo this became a time to forget. Almost immediately after independence and the general elections, the country went into civil war. Major developed cities like Katanga and Kasai wanted to be independent from the Lumumba government. Different factions started to fight the government and Katanga and Kasai tried to secede from the rest of the country out of fear of the mutinous army that was out of control looting and killing.
