The Affordable Care Act (ACE) also known as “Obamacare” was signed into law on March 23,2010 and with that Law in place came a new resolution on Health care in America that was revolution towards healthcare in which was always put down and never made it this far (Dolgin & Dieterich, 2011p.45). The Affordable Care Act was a major step towards health care since Lyndon B Johnson’s 1965 creation of Medicare and Medicaid (Dolgin & Dieterich, 2011p.45). It has been the basis of Obama’s presidential campaign since he took office and since the signing in 2010 the ACA or “Obamacare” has been in the media ever since (Dolgin & Dieterich, 2011p.45). There has been major opposition to it, and already two Supreme Court rulings on it, and currently waiting verdict on the Hobby Lobby case (Mears, 2014). The ACA is a huge step into a direction in which many opposition members don’t think the country doesn’t need to be focused on (McDonough, 2012). It is astounding that this bill would cause so much heated debate in the US government history with the amount of stalling and even after the bill being past the amount of of pressure by the GOP created even the government shut down this past year (Mears, 2014). The way the bill was passed and the time it was passed has caused a lot of controversy (McDonough, 2012). Many parts of the bill people have disliked and there is a reason why “Obamacare” will always remind Americans what Obamas term in office was to achieve (Miller , Capretta & Turner, 2012) In this paper I will be analyzing the position to the ACA and their strategies on how to repeal the Law. But first I will include a brief introduction about the ACA to give you a quick understanding about it and the key laws that are contributing to the he... ... middle of paper ... ... and polarization in the parties is one key contributor to the heated debate against the bill, overall causing stagnation with other, and even more important policies. The ACA has one major praise and that is that the coverage gives a new light towards prevention, insuring people the ability to get preventable treatment before a major case such as screening for cancer before (Koh,2010). Overall I would like to leave off with a current poll that was taken last year which shows the overwhelmingly opposition to the affordable heath care coverage. With the present court cases and massive opposition the Affordable care act or what it is commonly called as “Obamacare” will be in the news in the near future. The heated debates in congress will probably still be happening and a possibility for another government shutdown is ever so likely (Miller , Capretta & Turner, 2012).
