Lutz in his article describes many different weasel words. One of the biggest one commonly used by advertisers is the word “help”. When I was analyzing the lip clear lysine ad, the advertiser used the word “help” to mislead the consumer in buying the product. “’help’ only means to aid or assist, nothing more. It does not mean to conquer, stop, eliminate, and, solve, heal, cure, or anything else” (63). The Ad states that it will help you clear up your cold sore in half a time that basically means that it will aid. It is not going to cure it. Particularly in half the time cold sores take time to heal they are not something that you can heal it quickly. So I don’t think that it is wrong how advertisers advertise their product because at the end of the day they have to sell that product. But I was just hoping that they would not misled the consumers like this they should be a little honest with their Ad.
Also in the lip clear lysine advertisement the word “relieves” is used to mislead the consumer. “’relieve’ only means to ease, elevate, mitigate, not to stop, and, or cure” (Lutz 64)...

... absolutely agree with Cross’s statement on how people don’t realize the propaganda’s behind these Ad’s. They need to be educated on this kind a devices and that’s what this article did for me.
Therefore, after analyzing the lip clear lysine Ad I have some suggestion that can get wider audience. I think they should use the propaganda testimonial. That would help them get a wider audience as people would see the celebrity that they have already known on the advertisement. Also the last sentence in lysine Ad is trying the consumer to but there Invisible cold sore bandage. They say that it will hide your cold sore if you buy that bandage. I think they should take that out as it is distracting the consumer from the actual product that they are trying to sell. Also, I think that people would not buy their bandages because many people don’t like bandages on their faces.
