Summary
Thomas Sawyer, whom we know as Tom Sawyer, is an adventurous boy. He lived with Aunt Polly in St. Petersburg. Tom usually went out to play with his friends, Joe Harper and Huckleberry Finn. Once the three of them went to Jackson’s Island. Their parents couldn’t find them so they think the boys were all dead. The boys appeared in their own funeral, everyone was very glad and it was the happiest funeral.
One night, Tom and Huck accidentally met Injun Joe, Muff Potter, and Doctor Robinson at Hoss Williams’ graveyard. Doctor Robinson wanted Hoss’s body to study about it. Injun Joe and Muff Potter were graverobbers. Joe and Huck saw Injun Joe killing Doctor Robinson with Muff’s knife, then put the knife back into Muff’s hand and told him that he was a killer. Later, Muff was caught by the police. On the trial day Tom told the judge the true testimony, so Injun Joe fled away. They were all afraid of Injun Joe.
Later, Tom and Huck had an idea of digging for treasure, so they went to the dead tree on Cardiff Hill, but they didn’t find anything. Tom saw an old house at the foot of the hill, so they went in there. They found Injun Joe with a treasure that was worth thousands of dollars. They heard that Injun Joe would put all the treasure “under the cross”. But they had no idea where it was. Tom went to Becky Thatcher’s birthday by the river and visited McDougal’s Cave. The cave had many tunnels and rooms. They got lost in the cave. While they were finding the exit of the cave, Tom unexpectedly met Injun Joe again, but they were both afraid of each other, so no one got hurt. Finally, Tom could find the exit and they arrived home safely.

To sum up, “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” is the book that is worthy of reading. The story not only teaches us about the adventures, but also teaches us about parents’ love, and their expectation for us. Also, there are many conflicts in the story. The conflicts in the story are very close to our daily lives, so we should study how the conflicts were resolving and adapt it to our lives. Some of the conflicts were resolved, but some weren’t. Tom’s imaginative world is the one that wasn’t solved. Kids will never stop imagine, unless they are no longer kids.

Mark Twains The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is one of the greatest American novels ever written. The story is about Huck, a young boy who is coming of age and is escaping from his drunken father. Along the way he stumbles across Miss Watson's slave, Jim, who has run away because he overhead that he would be sold. Throughout the story, Huck is faced with the moral dilemma of whether or not to turn Jim in. Mark Twain has purposely placed these two polar opposites together in order to make a satire of the society's institution of slavery. Along the journey, Twain implies his values through Huck on slavery, the two-facedness of society, and represents ideas with the Mississippi River.
“Censorship is telling a man he can’t have a steak just because a baby can’t chew it.”(1) This is a quote from author Mark Twain in response to the banning of his novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from public libraries. Huckleberry Finn has proven to be one of the most controversial books in the United States since its first publication in the 1880s. Many people disagree with the language and themes of this book, and bemoan the teaching of it in public high schools. Others argue that Mark Twain’s narrative is an important work of American literature and students that are mature enough for these topics should be exposed to it. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain should not be banned from public high school curriculums because it teaches students about Southern culture in the 19th century, introduces students to information for learning and discussion, and brings up social issues that need to be addressed in today’s society.
In Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck is a person to be admired. His caring attitudes and blunt honesty prove that he is a great person. Although Huck can be seen lying, cheating and stealing, he does these things out of necessity and as a result of his poor upbringing. These negative attributes don’t affect his overall high character.
The novel is set in the 1930's in St. Petersburg, a fictitious place supposedly reminiscent of the town of Hannibal, Missouri the place where Mark Twain grew up. It follows the events in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, also of the same author.
Further from the banks of the Mississippi was Hannibal. Hannibal was a fine place to raise children. There were many places to go with fun things for young boys to do. Twain let his imagination go when he went to places like Holliday’s Hill and the caves close to the summit, where he may have played pirates just like Huck. A close friend of Clemens was Tom Blankenship, the son of the village drunkard, who was to be immortalized years later as Huck’s friend Tom Sawyer (The Adventures of Tom Sawyer). Tom Sawyer is Huck Finn’s best friend in the book. Tom freely invents lies and loves adventure, just as Tom Blankenship did.
Have you ever mused on your past and realized how much you've grown? It's fascinating how we change over time to become better, or worse. Tom Sawyer experienced the same growth, we as the readers are able to see and connect to Tom Sawyer as he grows.
Huck Finn, a boy of about 12 years, was the son of the town drunk. Widow Douglas adopted him so that she could civilize him and raise him to be a gentleman. Huck did not like going to school, attending church or dressing up. Tom Sawyer, Ben Rogers, and Joe Harper were his friends at the local school. Huck and Tom found a treasure hidden by bank robbers and were allowed to keep six thousand dollars each, for themselves, as a reward.
Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn are two close friends, but are also very different from each other. While one lives in a well-respected family, the other is abandoned out onto the streets. While one boy is liked by almost everyone in the community, the other is looked down on by society. The only similarities the two companions have together are their bravery and courageousness, their strong belief in superstition, and their love of adventure. Despite their many differences, both boys know when to make the right decision, and both value friendship above all.
Tom Sawyer, who had always been known as a trouble maker in the small town of St. Petersburg, Missouri. He had played hooky, lied, cheated, and stole. So When he was out with his two friends, they decided that they wanted to be free, like the pirates they pretended to be. Both sides agree that Sawyer needed discipline, although they disagree that his aunt was doing her best to raise him.
Tom Sawyer, the main character of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, written by Mark Twain, is an average boy who is bored with his civilized life and escapes these constraints by pulling pranks. The character, Tom is presented as a realistic and convincing boy. He is kind and loving, but also cruel, stupid, and hypocritical. As the story progresses, Tom shows signs of maturity. The story of Tom Sawyer, as well as TOM being about a realistic character, is a story that is instructive to adults and children.
Tom Sawyer, a mischievous, brave, and daring boy that goes through adventures in love, murder, and treasure. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain is about a boy maturing from a whimsical troublemaker into a caring young man. In the "conclusion" Mark Twain writes, "It being strictly a history of a boy, it must stop here; the story could not go much farther without becoming a history of a man" Tom is now maturing throughout a span of adventures in love, treasure, and everyday life that make him more of an adult, then a boy.
The movie has left an unfavorable taste in my mouth with the unfortunate loss of Tom and Huck’s hunt for treasure. Huck and Tom were on a trek for treasure like pirates use to. They end up at a haunted house where they find Injun Joe and his partner discussing the location of a big sum of money. Huck and Tom listen intently with hope of finding the money. The first clue they used led them to a room in a tavern where Injun Joe laid passed out and drunk. Realizing the treasure isn’t located in a place but an area, they continue the search. Tom and Becky get lost in a cave while on a trip and eventually get rescued. Tom and Huck are about to give up when they realize the treasure is in the cave and retrieve it. The adventure and search of the treasure was an essential scene that should have been in the movie because, it shows how the treasure was found and its ties with Injun Joe.
Friendships are a major theme in the story and are expressed through having faith, their explorations, exchanging items, and sharing similar views. When Tom and Becky separate from the rest of the group, they venture throughout the cave by themselves. Soon after realizing that they are both lost, they rely on each other to find a way out of the cave and back to civilization. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain has many amazing elements within its story but, these elements were not the first time it was used. Many other stories has used these elements before. Old stories like Robin Hood, Prometheus, and Cinderella are only some of the stories in which they used the elements before. Modern fiction is extremely similar to older works such as myths, traditional stories, and religious works based as characterization, theme, and plot.
