For as long as I can remember, my childhood dream has always been wanting to become a veterinarian. While other kids were outside having fun at the playground, I was at the library reading books and learning about the different animals. However, as I matured, I realized that being a veterinarian isn’t just about caring for and assisting injured animals. Being a veterinarian means having the ability to make quick decisions in stressful situations, showing complete dedication and passion to this profession, and being able to effectively communicate to pet owners.
In addition to helping sick animals, another option for veterinarians is doing scientific research and trying to make new medicines (Fact Monster).
The history of being a veterinarian has been around since human beings have interacted with animals. For a long time, ever since man tamed animals, there is a need to monitor their health. Just as human, they suffer the same diseases: a cold, sore throat, stomach ulcer, and urolithiasis. Veterinary Medicin...
Choosing a career path that is both enjoyable and sensible is crucial. By researching the necessary education, skills, daily life, job demand, salary and job satisfaction of veterinary technicians and lawyers, I am able to decide a future career. In the personal aspect of my life, I enjoy working with people and helping care for animals. This leaves me conflicted on what career path to take. By weighing factors such as education, salary and job demand, my choice is to follow the career path of a veterinary technician. Technicians earn a degree within two years, while a lawyer take seven years or beyond. By completing a two year degree, I can have a job position quickly, doing something that I love. When looking at salary, it is obvious that
Animals have been greatly expandable and used for economic value. They have been used for food, shelter and transportation for many years. Before the 1950’s most veterinarians focused more on livestock because there were not many other animals. It was much easier to kill injured or dying animals, than to treat them back then. In the 1900’s almost everyone worked on farms. People were not willing to spend the money to keep their pets healthy so there were very few pets in the 1950’s. One of the first schools that only studied veterinary medicine was founded in Lyon, France by Claude Bourgelat in 1761. Bourgelat did not want to have students in his school that already had training in human medical science, he focused more on teaching people that had no experience. This school found ways to treat livestock diseases and advance the cause of public health. (Careers in Veterina...

In one way or another, I have been taking care of animals my entire life. Growing up, I was completely dedicated to animals, caring for what could be considered a mini zoo. Naturally, as a child, I was set on a career as a veterinarian. Like most children, I was naive about the veterinary profession, but I had plenty of people to warn me about its challenges. Albeit initially discouraged from becoming a veterinarian, my search for a meaningful career not only revived my spark for veterinary medicine but also gave me the maturity and experience necessary to succeed in it.
The duties and responsibilities a Veterinary Technician has to be able to work any day at any time just like a paramedic. Also a Vet Technician has to keep animals happy while in treatment at the clinic. “On any given day that I am in surgery I wil...
