September 14, 2008 I was sitting in class waiting to get called to go home. My mom was coming to pick me up to take me to the courthouse. The tremendously important day had come I was getting adopted. I wouldn 't believe it, I was finally going to have a family to call my own. Well let 's go back in time for a minute to learn how I got here to begin with. I was originally from Rome, Georgia. It was a small town of poverty and drug dealers. My siblings and I grew up in a broken home. We had both of our parents yes but, our parents were addicts. After six years of an abusive life with my parents the police social workers came and took me away from home. Then it was into the foster system with my siblings and I. Almost six foster homes later I finally met my permanent family. Adoption is has so many ups and downs, but family is always worth working for.
First, going through an adoption sounds like a miracle, but honestly it 's scarier than you think. I 've been through almost six different foster homes. Many of them did more harm to me than good. I was suppose to feel safe, but I never did. Abuse was chronic up until …show more content…

They didn 't care what we chose, but they wanted us to go to their church just once. The first weekend we moved in with them (07/14/06) we went to St. Joseph 's Catholic Church. I fell in love with the Roman Catholic faith that Sunday. I have been a devout Roman Catholic ever since. We as a family decided to go to that church. The first time I went to a Roman Catholic church I was amazed St. Jose 's is so beautiful it takes your breath away. The stain glass windows and marble is spectacular. My family and I usually sit towards the front of the church. Catholic church are more about reverence and getting prepared to receive the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
