Accessibility of Planned Parenthood Planned Parenthood is a program designed to help men, women, and teens decide on whether to go with an abortion, obtain birth control, guide pregnancy and educate women’s health. The facility gives people hope for a better life; a life that possibly could have changed because of a baby or a potential STD. It is important that young people know that they have places like this available if they are in need of knowledge, or just need to restock on condoms. Planned Parenthood gives families the option to plan their families sometimes they do not have what is necessary to raise a baby. Things like time, money, or even a stable place to stay helps families decide on what to do. Planned Parenthood gives the option to change that for all people. There are many organizations that believe Planned Parenthood should be defunded; it even has become a political issue. Planned Parenthood should not be defunded because it gives people access to birth control, helps to prevent unplanned pregnancies, and provides access to affordable healthcare. Those numbers suggest that disadvantaged women are struggling to get the contraceptive services they need and are instead going on to give birth to children that they cannot financially support. “The U.S. continues to have higher rates of unintended pregnancies than most rich nations, and we know that U.S. and Texas women face barriers as they try to access preventative services.
