The absence of a career goal is an obstacle to one’s success. Yogi Berra once said, “If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll end up somewhere else.” (Brainy Quotes, 2013). To move our careers forward, we need to think strategically. Today’s market place requires that we be both proactive and intentional in order to circumnavigate the workplace, make good logical decisions, and consistently assess opportunities for our academic, personal and career goals.
It is also important to know what you are aiming for, by first setting yourself a target and a time frame, as I believe, the secret ingredient to success is to own one’s own ambitions and actions and then make the decisions necessary to get there.
I have developed and applied a number of strategies in this class, especially when it comes to establishing goals and developing academic perseverance and survival. First, by identifying how one learns best (through Kolb’s learning style model and Gardner’s multiple intelligence concepts) whether it is visual, auditory, or tactile, can be paramount in one’s educational success. I have also discovered that each learning style is unique to one’s own self and is equally important to building a personal foundation by exploring one’s own personality traits, interpersonal skills, leadership capabilities interests, values, effective time management, identifying strengths and skills, utilizing professional communication, understanding the importance of networking, setting goals, and executing tasks. It is also essential to become actively involved, such as asking pertinent questions in class, forming discussion groups with your class peers, and developing a rapport with your instructor. ...e societies would call that Devine Intervention, or something God has created just for you. I’ve had things happen that were of very great anonymities. I recognized, most of the time, that it is my destiny to embrace those moments of understanding and continue to grow!

I shall make my belief a reality
I shall clearly visualize what I want
I shall create my goals and write them down
I shall identify the purpose of my goal that I want to achieve
I shall prepare a strong commitment in writing about why it is important to me, what it means to me, the outcome importance and how I will get it done.
I shall stay focused and visit my written goals each day
I shall create my plan of action
I shall stay motivated by taking action now
I shall hold myself accountable by telling family and friends about my goals
I shall frequently review my goals
I will take action!
