The debate on abortion is an ongoing argument between the people who are pro-life and the people who are pro-choice. Personally, I believe in pro-life. How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live? Imagine not having a choice in whether or not you want to have a life. Well, babies do not have the ability to choose while they are in their mother’s womb. If a woman decides to abort her baby, the baby cannot do anything about their life being taken away. Their whole future is demolished and no one would ever know what have become of that child. I believe abortion is a wrong and selfish decision for the mother to make. This states that a woman has a right to make decisions that involve her body. Our government has always respected the individual’s right to privacy. A woman’s reproductive system should not be the property of the government. The U.S Supreme Court Case, Roe vs. Wade, that was brought about in 1973, decided that abortion was to be legal. This case stated that the unborn fetus is not a legal person and therefore does not have legal rights. Unfortunately, a baby does not become a legal person until he/she is born, even though the baby may biologically contain a brain, heart, and limbs. The unborn child is simply the property of the mother and the mother can wish to do what she wants with the fetus. Though I am completely against pro-choice, I can see where, in some cases, why a mother would not want to keep her child. For instance, if a woman were to be raped and got pregnant, I could see where she would not want to keep her baby. The thought of raising a child by a man that violated her body could just be way too unbearable. But, with that being said there are also other answer such as adoption. There are millions of couples in the world who are unable to get pregnant for many reasons. They are striving to have a child that they can care for, love, raise, and be theirs. Most of the time this is a devastating factor for couples. I personally know of a couple that was unable to get pregnant and that fact ultimately ended their relationship. Abortion is a very controversial and sensitive topic in today’s society. Two different sides to this argument is pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life proponents believe in the right to life for unborn fetuses saying that abortion should be considered murder regardless of how far along in the pregnancy the woman is. Pro-choice advocates people who believe the woman carrying the fetus should be able to make her own decision on aborting the fetus.
Pro choice vs pro life has divided people for numerous reasons. Abortion is expected to date back to the 1800s, it is now seen as taboo and inhumane to some. Fact of the matter, whether abortion is wrong or not it is the fight for giving a woman a natural right to her own body. For decades, legislators that are full of man have created laws and regulations on abortion. Abortion ideally ought to be pro choice for women everywhere for the victims' own protection, expanding young girls life opportunities, and individual freedom.
Over the years, it seems like abortion has had extreme debates on whether it should be legal or not. Abortion is the removal of a baby before it is born. Some people may call the removal of the baby murder. These types of people are called pro-life people because they believe everyone has a right to life no matter the situation. On the other had other people such as myself feel that abortion is a personal right and that it should continue to be legal. What is life? No one seems able to agree, and there is no side in between. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, as well as one of the most seemingly unsolvable controversies. Pro-life advocates claim that abortion equates to full-on murder, while pro-choice advocates claim that women have the right to make decisions about their own bodies. With the right to an abortion under attack more and more, even clinics finding themselves under actual gunfire, abortion becomes a bigger debate topic than ever. A woman is a person more than the fetus inside of her, and she deserves to make whatever choice she wishes about her own body. Women should have safe, easy access to abortion in all cases.

With the issue of abortion, one’s attitude toward it is going to be based on many things such as religious background and personal morals. There is no black and white answer to the abortion issue. Luckily we live in a country where we are able to decide for ourselves whether something is morally right or wrong. Thus, ultimately, the choice is ours. As with the many other ethical issues which we are faced with in our society, it is hard to come to a concrete answer until we are personally faced with that issue. All we can do is make an effort to know all of the aspects which are involved so that we may be able to make a sound decision if we were faced with this problem in our own lives.

These are some of the questions an individual needs to ask when considering having abortion. Abortion, in my opinion, is immoral and unjust simply because it is murder. A brutal murder of a being who has not even seen the world and a huge injustice to a helpless fetus who might have been the next Einstein, President, or the person who would find a cure to cancer. Morality says that every person has the right not to be unjustly killed. Hence, this right also apply to any unborn child. The thought of an individual killing his/her own unborn child is always lurking in the back of my mind because it’s hard to assert the harm being caused by the unborn child to the mother or to the society in general. If we say abortion is morally right, then we are against procreation and procreation is one of the major contributions of a human being to his or her society and the world at large. The act of procreation is one of the most beautiful things in the world. To make a human being, being able to watch that kid grow into an adult and actually be responsible to the society, should be a very fulfilling experience for any mother. I hereby oppose the principle of paternalism because I don’t believe it is moral to take away or destroy the life of an unborn child to save the life of the mother because there is no harm caused by the unborn child but I support the harm principle because abortion in general, causes harm to the unborn child, his future, the mother and the society. Giving birth is often looked upon as a miracle of life with remarkable experiences to come. However, others may think this miracle of life will be nothing but problems in their lives. Many females who are not ready for a baby seek abortion as the answer of their problems. Abortion is known to be one of the most debated issues in society. It is best defined as a “medical procedure used to end a pregnancy and cause the death of the fetus” (“Merriam-Webster 's Learner 's Dictionary”). Regardless, if a woman becomes unexpectedly pregnant and is not mentally or financially stable to take care of a baby, abortion is still not the answer. The procedures for abortion is unhealthy for the female, is murder of the fetus, and goes against the 14th Amendment.
It is clear that every woman has the right to make their own decisions no matter of the situation they may be in. The decision the woman makes should never have to be compared or even justified against what other people think due to the fact the woman will be the one bearing the child and going through the whole nine month process. What would you do in a situation where you were just too young to give birth to a child? What would you do if you were not in a financially stable environment? Why would you bring an unwanted human being to life, costing hatred, frustration and agony towards a baby that does not deserve it? Is this what society really wants thousands of neglected children around the world?
Many couples who cannot have their own children are patiently waiting for a child to be adopted, and abortions are taking away that opportunity from willing families. The other side of this controversy is called pro-choice. Pro-choice followers believe, as implied by the name, that a woman’s right to choose is more important than anything, even human life. The Roe vs Wade case of 1973 is the building block of their side of the argument, the ruling being “the right to privacy.” is enough protection to defend a woman’s reproductive rights (Roe v Wade 1973).
I feel very strongly about this issue, and because of that I am very biased to the arguments that the pro-life groups make. Neither argument is right or wrong, but I feel that the pro-choice side presents their arguments in a better manner. The pro-choice gives arguments such as legal abortion eliminates many of the illegal abortions that used to take place, where pro-life presents arguments like, abortion is murder. They don’t give examples of how abortion is harming the world, other than reasons of value. They also present less arguments than the pro-choice groups do. Abortion is an issue that lacks objectivity and is more of a decision of ethics. There is no right or wrong answer.

Before Roe, many women were pregnant were forced to weigh their respect for the law against their positivism that they were not ready to be mothers. Many women chose to break the law, putting their lives and futures at risk, and decided to get unsafe and expensive procedures.
Since the early 1970’s abortion has been an important issue to the United States (Tietze 1). The problem begins with whether it is the woman’s choice to keep or terminate her pregnancy or the government’s choice. When this problem happens, a woman loses her right as a person. Most women argue about this issue, but if you look at it, it is the woman’s body, and she should do with it as she pleases. I believe that if a woman, under the right circumstances, should be able to make her own choices in life and not be influenced by family or the government.

Abortion not only takes away individual tissues forming, it has the potential to take away a future friend, sibling or spouse.
