An innocent child is killed because the mother is not prepared for a baby at that time in her life. Is it right for her to terminate her pregnancy because she doesn't want to raise a child? Abortion should be banned because too many babies are being killed from abortion, baby’s have been reported to survive abortions, and if you don't want a child or you don’t feel you could raise it you could always put it up for adoption.
Some people believe that when an abortion is performed that the baby is not developed, or as some say, “a bunch of cells”, but the truth is that before a women even knows she is pregnant, about four days missed cycle, that a baby already has a beating heart at 18 days. Also at 18 days their brain starts developing. At about 6 weeks they respond to touch. The brain and all body systems are present by 8 weeks and functioning a month later. At 11 to 12 weeks, the baby is sensitive to heat, touch, light, and noise. Also all the body systems are working. There have also been studies that show that a baby can feel pain at 20 weeks gestation. As they continue to grow day by day they don’t become babies they always have been they’ve just become more developed ones. These babies have their own DNA, sex, blood type, and fingerprint which makes them unique individual. These babies are people just like everyone else that has and will walk on this earth. They are human beings weither that are outside the womb or not. Abortions have more common in the past few years. Reports show that 56% of abortions are performed at 8 weeks of gestation, and 88% are performed before 13 weeks. Overall, 19% of abortions were performed at the earliest weeks of gestation 6 weeks, 18% at 7 weeks, and 19% at 8 weeks.

One of the biggest issue of abortion goes back to the controversial question of when human life actually begins. Many people will often argue that a fetus is a living being from the moment of conception and feel that it deserves the same legal protections as an adult, therefore making it immoral to kill it. Just like in our court system, we would not put an innocent person on death penalty. The fetus has done nothing wrong and has the right to live. As the editor of Christianity Today wrote, "abortion is one of those monumental issues of justice that comes along once in a lifetime. It is violence against children, a hideous act of poisoning or dismembering tiny bodies, then dumping them in a landfill or garbage disposal." On the other hand, those who are for abortion say that a fetus is only a "potential human being." The advocates for legal abortions want the mother to choose whether she keeps the baby or kills it, and the rights of a mother supersede the rights of a baby. John M. Sw...
An issue that has flared up in today’s society, abortion is a highly debated topic that has sparked some of the most violent discussions. The rapid growth in teenage pregnancy has only increased the amount of attention that has been drawn to abortion and whether it is ethical or not. While some say that a woman is in power of her own body and can make choices based on her best interest, some take much offense to that and demand that a baby is a baby no matter how small it is and that abortion is never okay. It is important to know going into this debate that to argue one side, one would have to be 100% consistent with that decision because of all of the grey areas that come up regarding abortion. With that being said, I still believe that a mother should take responsibility of the situation and recognize that, even though it is minuscule, a baby is a person the moment it begins to develop inside of her.
Many people who don’t know much about abortion don’t know how truly horrifying and serious it is. There are many small details about the baby that could change a woman’s mind in an instant on whether or not they think abortion is the way to go. Women usually don’t realize how it works or what exactly is happening to the baby. They usually think to themselves that it isn’t really a baby or a human form yet, but they are wrong. The baby has already developed fingers, eyelids, a brain, knees, and many other human features by just only seven weeks into the pregnancy (What your baby). Unborn developing babies are much more “human” tha...
An abortion is the medical process of terminating a pregnancy before the development or natural death of a fetus. Justifications exist for abortion. In some scenarios the end of a pregnancy is the best option, for example, in cases of placenta previa, women with severe diabetes, or cardio vascular conditions. All of these conditions can, if the mother delivers the soon to be baby, lead to the mother's death. Also, another justification many women have is carrying an unwanted fetus, which was a result of rape. An additional example of abortion justification involves the quality of life for the future child. If a woman is single or cannot pay to support a child properly, then she should not be forced to have one. In these instances abortion, before twenty weeks, is a smart alternative. However, can one really justify an abortion for a fetus that can feel emotions, such as pain, and has fingernails grown on his or her fingers and toes? At the point of twenty weeks the embryo is now a “baby” that has major sensory and emotional developments . It only makes sense that the United States woul...
Of the millions of pregnancies that happen every year, almost half of those pregnancies are aborted. What some people do not know is that abortion is murder; the life of an innocent, unborn baby is being ended because the mother does not want that child. Many people say that the baby is unaware of what is going and they do not feel anything; when really, a baby can feel pain just days after conception. A baby is a baby; it still has arms, legs, and a functioning brain just like the rest of us do. So why are these babies getting murdered? Life begins immediately after conception; Abortion is wrong because it is murder, a “quick getaway” and it is a cheaper way for irresponsible women to not have to take care of someone. There are other options that do not involve murder.
However, others believe it is not considered murder and is acceptable if the mother chooses to kill her baby in the womb through abortion; with only the restriction of having the procedure done before the fetus is 24 weeks old. People may find this law logical, because they assume the baby is not developed yet. Therefore the fetus could not feel anything, and the termination of the baby would not be considered murder. They think this way because “doctors groups and other critics of the law argue that a fetus cannot feel pain at 20 weeks gestational age” (Miller Sarah). They assume that the only difference this procedure would do is benefit the mother by assisting her with issues this baby could be for her. In reality, doctors have confirmed that unborn babies can feel pain. In fact, “surgeons entering the womb that perform corrective procedures on fetuses, and have seen babies flinch, jerk, and move from sharp objects” (When Can an Unborn). An unborn baby as little as 20 weeks old “is fully capable of experiencing pain. … Without question, [abortion] is a dreadfully painful experience for any infant subjected to such a surgical procedure”, says Robert J White, a medical doctor and professor of neurosurgery. It has been established that indeed the baby is fully capable of feeling the entire procedure. In addition to the fetus having sensation, visual features that make up the baby are clearly human, therefore, without a doubt, the fetus is in fact, alive in the womb. Considering the definition of murder “killing of one human being by another” (Merriam-Webster), describes abortion perfectly. This is because a life that had potential greatness was given the opportunity to grow and impact many, is killed by another human being. Simply because the fetus is helpless for that time being, and could
The baby in the womb can feel pain around 16 weeks into the pregnancy. To begin, a woman can “ have a surgical abortion...up to 22 weeks” (...). By this time the baby can already feel pain, and has a heartbeat at 5 weeks, the baby is a human once the egg connects to the sperm. The baby is not just a simple organism anymore, the baby has a heartbeat and is practicing breathing. Abortion is the same as murder, just because the child can stop it or have anything to say about it doesn 't change what it is. Just because the baby cannot live on it’s own does not mean the baby is not living. The baby may not be able to function on its own, but it is already developing. For instance, at three months the baby’s “unique fingerprints are now in place” (...). The baby is developing bone structure and even fingerprints. The baby is quickly developing a self identity, the baby is a growing human being just like us. There are other options for the mother if she cannot take care of the child. For instance, in the united states alone “Infertility affects approximately 6.7 million women in the United States” (...). If every baby that was aborted was given up for adoption instead, a woman could have a child to care for and love unconditionally. This way the baby at least gets a chance to live its life rather than having it taken so early. It is illegal
On January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court, in two separate decisions, Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, declared that Congress and the states had to adopt a policy on abortion. Since then, abortion has been one of the most controversial issues in our country today. Every time the subject of abortion is raised, the same question always comes up: should people have the right to terminate an unborn child? The answer is no. No person should have the right to terminate an unborn child which has not yet had the chance to live, no matter what the reason is. Abortion is the termination of an alive, unborn child, which can experience pain through the process of an abortion. There is no need to have an abortion when these children could be put up for adoption instead of being ıaborted.ġ Abortion is the termination of alive, unborn children. How can a person decide just when an unborn fetus becomes a person with constitutional rights. Many people disagree when a fetus becomes an actual person, but the truth is that a fetus becomes a person at the time of conception. An article entitled ıPro-lofe and pro-choice? Yesġ says that, ıFrom the moment of conception, the fetus is endowed with all the genetic information that will enable its development into a full human personġ (Church 108). Technology has advanced very much in the past twenty years and now with the aid of medical technology and the science of fetology, doctors can prove that a fetus is an actual person as early as thirteen weeks of growth (Meyer 62-64). These facts only help to prove that a fetus is an actual person, who deserves the chance to be born. Contrary to belief, a fetus can actually feel pain. The observation of abortions on ultrasound have been very disturbing. So disturbing, that many abortion doctors who have seen the procedure, refuse to participate in abortions again (Meyer 62-64). An article entitled ıFetal positions: Making Abortion rareġ reports that, ıBernard Nathanson, a former director of the National Abortion Rights Action League, who performed thousands of abortions, repudiated the practice in the early 1980's after observing the apparent agony of a fetus subjected to a suction-tip abortionġ (Meyer 62-64). Modern neurology supports the claim that the fetus can experience pain, not just reflex. Reflexive reactions stimulate only the spinal column, but the more complex reactions that stimulate pain occur in the tiny portion of the brain called the thalamus.
Mother Theresa once said, “If we accept that a mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill each other? Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, rather, to use violence to get what they want” (Ward). Ronald Reagan also once stated, “I’ve noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born” (Kurtzman). These widely known Pro-life advocates support the idea that abortion unjustly takes the life of a defenseless human being. The Roe vs. Wade case in 1973 legalized abortion, thus sparking the match to a never ending debate. Pro-life advocates believe that women should not be given the right to an abortion. Giving women the right to an abortion is similar to giving serial killers the right to murder whomever they want. Abortions lead to various health and psychological effects.
In 1973, the United States Supreme Court ruled that under the 14th Amendment, abortion is a woman’s decision. The ruling, in the case of “Roe vs. Wade”, further states a woman has a right to an abortion until “viability” which is defined as being able to live outside of the mother’s womb. Viability usually occurs around 28 weeks or 7 months. This means that a woman can abort a baby just two months before it is born. I strongly disagree with this ruling because this is killing innocent babies. Furthermore, many medical doctors confirm the fetus can feel pain as early as 18 weeks. Dr. Emidio Novembre spoke before the U.S. House Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee. According to Dr. Novembre, “The fetus can perceive the pain, feel the pain and tries to avoid the pain. The fetus is a person and the person wants to live” (Reinhard). The fetus pain debate goes back at least as far as 1984, when President Ronald Reagan said, “Medical-science doctors confirm that when the lives of the unborn are snuffed out, they often feel pain, pain that is long and agonizing” (Yarrow). This evidence proves the fetus is a person and the attempts to kil...
The unborn entity surviving inside the mother’s womb is a complete human being and 14 days after the fertilization gastrulation begins which is the initial stage of appearance of spinal column in an embryo (Powell, 2016). Powell (2016) argued that the fertilization is the milestone of personhood, thus the unborn entity should be treated as a person and abortion cannot be morally justifiable. Similarly, some may claim that the appearance of a blood in the embryo begins the personhood. These biological views regarding the personhood does not support the termination of pregnancy because an unborn human entity is a person and has a right to life. Therefore, abortion is an example of killing and ending a human life and it is never morally or ethically
A mother kills her unborn child because it is unwanted, but she's not charged for murder. Is it right? There is about 46 million abortions per year worldwide, and approximately 115,000 per day, but why? Is it because rape or incest, health problems with either the mother or the child, or just because the baby's unwanted or inconvenient at the time? (The Alan Guttmacher Institute.) Abortion should be banned because too many babies are being killed from abortion, if you don't want a child you could always put it up for adoption, and most mothers don't understand the consequences that occur from abortion.
If the mother is completely healthy, and if the unborn baby is totally healthy as well, then there is absolutely no reason to have an abortion and kill an innocent child. But overall, if the mother wants to abort the baby, just because she doesn’t want it, then it is 100 percent her choice (Borgmann 20-26). Ultimately it is her body, so therefor, it is her choice. It’s hard to tell when abortion is acceptable because it can be hard to tell when the fetus becomes alive. At 11 weeks, internal organs are present and functioning (Beeke, “Is Abortion Really so Bad?”). God’s word clearly treats personhood as commencing at conception. God forbids murder, and abortion is murder (Slick, “Is Abortion Wrong?”). Some people believe that when the male sperm and female egg combine, life begins (Beeke, “Is Abortion Really”). “This throws in the question of whether it is okay to have the abortion because the fetus isn’t even alive yet or it is not okay because the fetus is alive and it has become a baby” (“When is The Fetus ‘alive’?”). Instantly after conception the child is obviously already growing, and so therefor, it is alive (Sanders 15-19). It’s just whether someone wants to accept that or not. According to a student organization, since the legalization of abortion in 1973, over 56 million unborn children have been killed, that is more than the entire population of Spain. That is 155 babies per hour, about every 24 seconds (TFP Student. . .). That is a lot of dead kids. According to Andrew Napolitano who wrote about abortion, “a society that prefers death to life, not only cannot prosper: in cannot survive. The baby in the womb is a person” (“Is Rape Moral”).The point thrown out here is pretty plain to see. If our society as a whole prefers to kill people, not only people but children, because they don’t want to give birth to them, which is pretty selfish by the way, how can we fully prosper? The practice of abortion in
Do you believe we should have to power to choose rather someone one lives or not? Is it really our decision to make? Many people in our society have debated this question for a long time. What it all boils down to is if a mother should be allowed to abort her baby or not. Also if she is allowed to when is the baby considered a human being and why is she being allowed to kill it without any repercussions that would normally come along with murder. Many people believe that the mother has the sole right to abort her baby whenever she wants to, and for whatever reasons. Others believe that even though she has the right to abort her pregnancy that at some point the baby has a heartbeat, and she should not
What is abortion? Is when a make a chose on whether to keep the child. It's is Abortion is an unfair decision to the life of a human baby. Abortion was allowed in 1973 and since then 53 million unborn children have been killed. Abortion really offends Christian people because the struggle always has been a religious battle. Across many Catholic churches they teach that abortion is murder and it is not acceptable. It should be a rule that humanity should protect its own life to preserve our humans from being extinct. And on top of that abortion is really not safe; ever since abortion has been legalized there have been listed of the hundred 47 woman killed by abortion. People who do have abortions are 50% more likely to have breast cancer. If we want to break the cycle of abortion it would take years and development because abortion is sin and we cannot get rid of sin but we can better educate ourselves and reduce our killing over innocent human life.
