A teacher leader is probably one of the most diverse terms in the educational world. If you ask five people what a teacher leader is, you will get five different answers. Leadership is the guidance of others towards a common goal. A teacher leader is someone who has been in the trenches and understands the needs of the students, the teachers, and the school community as a whole. Their role should not be as an administrator but someone whom the teachers can lean on and look to for support and guidance. This person needs to be willing to step up and be a leader in various roles whether that be as a mentor, an instructional specialist, a support person for the teachers, or just a role model for new teachers. The teacher leader needs to be willing to listen, collaborate, and participate with a diverse group of people who all have the same common goal: student success. My first step would be to conduct a survey of all classes that currently use chrome carts and determine by teacher how big of an issue it is for them to consistently have to help students with typing and formatting issues. I will also conduct a survey among students to determine what they feel their skills currently are and what we could do to help them get better. After disaggregating the data, I would present the information to administration and discuss avenues to help drive this change. It could be something as simple as the current business teachers changing curriculum in order to ensure students are being trained or something as big as creating a whole new curriculum. Whatever decision is reached, I feel that my efforts in driving this change will have shed light on a very valid issue within our district.

The Teacher : The Good Teacher Essay

- “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates.
