Pinatubo was experiencing must be stronger and more powerful because the earthquake was so much more violent than the eruption. However, in order for both earthquakes to have occurred Mt. Pinatubo and Mt. Saint Helens have to be located in a subduction zone. Also, they are both located in the “Ring of Fire.” In addition, Mt. Pinatubo and Mt. Saint Helens must be near a convergent plate boundary because both plates collided with other plates.
